A name that many have been eagerly anticipating the next moves of, Dahu, has finally shrugged off his elusiveness and stepped out of the shadows. Emerging onto the scene with his much accredited debut EP ‘Deep in the Woods’, the young artist has set high standards for himself and looks set push off even further within the scene with his latest EP ‘North’. 

‘North‘ is a dark, moody affair that features two originals and a remix from Nick Devon each screaming with attitude. 

Title track ‘North’ upholds the feeling of the EP, full of energy and yet enigmatic in its dark undertones. Haunting synth lines circulate around a bellowing bassline, whilst glass bells and falling keys give added texture and atmosphere to this murky tale. 

Nick Devon steps up with his take on ‘North, with a remix that sharpens the elements of the original. Expertly balanced kickdrums lay against finely tuned hi-hats to give this remix a more classic house vibe. 

Closing the book is ‘How Do They Know’, a delicately deep track that seals the deal at the end of the night. Backed by a structured bassline that sits below sub, synth stabs become more and more melodic whilst strong piano chords fuel the emotion.

Apparel Music is a jazzy music label started in 2009 by italian dj/producer Kisk. The need to explore this genre arises from the idea of bringing something new to the electronic scene. The two dogs in our logo are the yin and yang, day and night, good and bad, the contrast generated by everything... but above all love.
Jazz becomes a way of reconfirming the most virtuoso elements of house music while welcoming the new sounds coming through on the international scene. The label s founders decided to explore this genre that combines dance music with jazzy sounds for discerning palates, or rather ears. Indeed only jazz beats can bring a more human dynamic to cold electronic music.

1. Please share some basic info about yourself, your music background and the real story of how it really happened?

I grew in Washington, DC playing all types of music, went to art school in Chicago continued to make music when I relocated to New York. I eventually had a few hit records here and there and various collaborations and it brought me to where I’m at today doing music full time.


2. You are NYC based, could you give us an insight on the NYC and US club scene ? 

New York like every other big city is always changing and evolving with what people are doing. Plenty of new blood and those who have been doing it for years, I’m happy to be a part of the music scene and all the venues that support it.

3. The most weird party that you have played at ... How do you recall that ?

Nothing too weird about it, but last weekend I played at Bossa Nova Civic Club here in Bushwick which felt more like a sauna - all hot and sweaty with everyone going for it with the bangin system. That was super fun, reminded me of a few years back when I played in an abandoned bath house in Manhattan. Proper summer.

5. You run a label with Nik Mercer called Let's Play House, can you share some more info on it with us?

Nik and I started putting events in New york together 5 years ago. The label started with James Friedman a few years after bringing together acts we’d worked with or shared music with. Now we're a full on record label with a solid release schedule.

6. Is their anything exciting from Jacques Renault and Let's Play House that we should be keeping an ear out for over the summer?

LPH has some great music coming out before the summer is over! I have 2 new remixes and then a new EP out this Fall!

'Metaphysix' looks at the relationship and musical connection between Paris and Ultramajic, with Edgar inviting five ostensibly disparate producers, including Fries and Bambounou (as well as Crystal Bandito, Bobmo, Aden and Creepy Autograph)to translate similar musical ideas through cultural barriers.

To celebrate the release, Fries and Bambounou have curated a special mix for i-D that consists of calibrating of oscilloscopes, and other such wonders. Press play on this mysterious soundtrack where a wealth of new music is awaiting to be discovered.

Devotion to the artform, devotion to our friends, family, and lovers, devotion to what we want to achieve. Devotionals, in the religious sense, are a way for humans to get closer to God. While personally I'm not one to preach any religious dogma, I do believe there is a spiritual message is house music that we can all understand, and I tried to communicate that in this mix.
