“Dub For Ya Speaker” is an explosive slice of bassline warfare which perfectly sums up the new KSO sound – an innovative take on the bassline genre, incorporating clear influences of old school hip hop and early jungle by Aphrodite and Mickey Finn.

Following up on the essential bass track “Carnage” with Freddie Martin, popping up in bass DJ sets all over the country this year, Dread MC delivers another signature vocal here for KSO which manages to straddle both dub reggae and UK garage stylings, accelerating the ultra-heavy bass synths underneath with show-stopping finesse and dancefloor power. Dread MC will be performing all over the globe in support of My Nu Leng this year, rocking clubs and festivals in quick succession.

Eddie Craig is better known as one-half of prolific UK garage legends The Wideboys – kicking-off his new solo material with this KSO release and another forthcoming single with UK garage newcomers FooR. Craig’s fine-tuned ear for sublime production shines through in KSO’s arrangement culminating in arguably the strongest Stepper Man release to date!

For anyone familiar with the burgeoning bass scene in Brighton, spear-headed by label collectives such as Southpoint, Tengu will need no introduction. Renegade Riddims: KSO

As the UK bass scene moves forward and progresses across different areas, it's often the occurrence that some of the original names from the scene's earlier days will start to fall into memory, rather than maintaining their positions at the top. One artist we have seen successfully return to the forefront of the bass explosion we are currently living amongst is Kissy Sell Out, a producer and DJ who has previously held down numerous Radio 1 residencies along with a multitude of major festival bookings. 

Over the last few years we have seen him establish himself again as an integral part of our 4x4 scene, not only starting up his own label project, but by kicking off the super popular 'The House Of Bassline' mix series, as well as trying his hand, very successfully at artist management. It's the sort of thing you just love to see. 



We are therefore here today to take a look at his brand new single via is label Stepper-man, which is a fantastic new school spin on what would be defined as an old school classic. The original recording comes to us courtesy of Urban Cookie Collective, who released 'The Key, The Secret' in 1993. Kissy here gets very busy on a vibrant, 2019 ready remix however, bringing the vocal structures and rhythms of the track streaming forward to the modern dance. 

The track itself works the vocal lines well, combining nostalgia with high production value to tick both boxes, leading towards one hell of a militant drop as we are introduced to an array of lethal synthesizer patterns and choppy drum structures. We have the great pleasure of being able to provide you all with the official SoundCloud premiere of this one, which you are able to check out below.

After 12 years in the game, Kissy Sell Out continues to be one of the most influential and globally respected names of the British dance music industry. With fresh projects evolving in 2018 as the label manager of Stepper Man and Lengoland, his bass house productions and world-class DJ mixing talents have forged the start of a second chapter in his vibrant and prestigious career. 

With his critically-acclaimed new album as KSO called “Style From The Westside” – described by UKF as “the realest bassline album you’ll hear all year” – Kissy has used his wealth of experience to shred up every old habit and signature sound he has honed in the past and re-written the rule book of electronic music production yet again. 

The list of collaborators featuring on the album reads like a who’s who of heavy-hitters in the current bassline and bass house scenes; including DJ Q, Darkzy, Dread MC, Pavv, JG, Tengu, Sam Supplier, J69, Jaikea, and The Wideboys. 

KSO’s lists of achievements in the music industry and public-eye are as long as they are astounding. He started at the tender age of 21 working on official game-changing remixes for A-list pop-stars such as Mark Ronson, Calvin Harris and Gwen Stefani (all while he was still at London’s Central Saint Martins art college), and went on to find success across the globe as an influential taste-maker at BBC Radio 1, global brand ambassador for Pioneer DJ, regular tour support act for The Prodigy and Fatboy Slim, as well as a unique music industry personality and public figure who can claim to have debated against Stephen Fry at Cambridge University and composed official music for the 2012 London Olympics ceremonies in Trafalgar Square and Buckingham Palace.
