Exiles presents Classics, an interesting proposal in which five artists each present a different perspective of what we can understand as advanced electronic music. All these artists are from Budapest, the city where the label is located, and to a greater or lesser extent, they are producers associated with this platform, as they have published their music in previous releases. 

Classics is a heterogeneous EP, with a powerful sound and elaborate textures. Alley Catss opens the release with με σφυρί, a track that combines a bright sound environment, with melancholic pads and metallic rhythmic elements, typical of experimental electronica, with a forceful kick that transports you at times to the raw landscape of industrial. The second cut, prayersarestandinginline1, by OOO, is an abstract track, with a degraded sound treatment and a strange atmosphere.

In the third track FOR. chooses to adopt a dynamic aspect with server ed_22, as unlike the rest of the tracks, its syncopated rhythm is prominent, forceful and stands out from the rest of the sound components. Oyster Farm, by Juhász Tamás, is a singular piece, with a fast cadence and different sections that seem to operate anarchically, yet together they form an perfect alliance. Nemerov closes the EP with Liebeslied, IDM with a complex architectural composition, with polyrhythms and a futuristic sound design.

Strasbourg, France based Bella Ursa Recordings, since 2020 keep on delivering 'astral electronics for cosmic dancefloors' through the upcoming first celebration opus, the 17-track Various/Artists collection "Nebula Scarabea #01", slated for release digitally on all platforms, but also on an alluring laser-etched C-90 cassette tape, spruced up with an uncanny analog collage from one of the crew’s most-valued members Bill Noir, on May 23, 2022.

Pennsylvania based techno experimentalist and Unknown Precept label affiliated, Connor Clasen, operating under his IXVLF moniker (also known as Softgrid and Erlin, and part of Philly trio WORT), is delving, for more than 15 years, into the obscure, convoluted and uncharted corners of contemporary electronic music, intersected with strong foundations of Chicago House, rugged Primitivism, crackling New Beat, rackety proto-Industrialism and a DIY Punk aesthetic.

We are back with our lathe cut series' new episode and this 10inch is the forth in the line, but it's also a return of UK-based synth duo.

Teachers, a duo made up of two real-life secondary school teachers, turn into some lyrical, gloomy beautiful vocoder-oriented pop music.
Alex Keefe & Joakim Kristiansen first vinyl came out on Willie Burns' W.T. Records where Alex already released his solo under the Tagwell Woods moniker. The deep emotional musical journey is continuing on DDE04 as well.

“Superbrains'' is a showcase for the Berlin-based, inclusive music project Ick Mach Welle, an initiative which has been bringing together musicians, with and without visible disabilities, for the last 5 years. Featuring solo artists and musical collaborations with very different approaches to creating music, this compilation highlights the results of the workshops and mentoring programs provided by Ick Mach Welle throughout these years. The tracks featured on this release range across the musical spectrum from the wildly experimental, to dub and electronica, to driving techno and rave, reflecting the diversity of the participants and the inclusivity of the Ick Mach Welle project. The emotions revealed through the music contained herein provide the listener with an insight into the lives of the people who created them, people whose voices far too often go unheard. The artwork comes from Brussels artist Elzo Durt, who has provided Killekill with his psychedelic collages several times in recent years.

The sound construction leans into a more delirious approach, building a dense atmosphere through retro synths reminiscent of 80s disco vibes. Encanto also incorporates deep house influences, crafting velvety atmospheres.

Jason Letkiewicz has always swum against the musical tides, flitting between different solo pseudonyms (including Steve Summers, Death Commando and Alan Hurst) and collaborative projects (most notably Mutant Beat Dance) in order to explore different aspects of his leftfield inspirations. With his latest release, a first full-length outing for Artificial Dance entitled Mirage Information, the Chicago-based artist is operating under an alias that celebrates this approach: Opposing Currents.

It’s an alias he’s used once before – for a track featured on Chronditic Sound’s 2015 cassette compilation Non-Christian Referent – but Mirage Information sounds like an artistic rebirth. Densely layered, mind-altering and often intense, the album’s seven tracks update the Cold War paranoia and pulsating electronics of EBM and industrial music for today’s complex and chaotic political climate.

Throughout, Letkiewicz smothers off-kilter drum machine rhythms and throbbing, body-jacking synthesizer basslines in untold layers of hazy audio detail, creating a dystopian sound soup out of which alien electronic melodies, psychedelic acid lines and barely audible vocals emerge. At times, such as on angry opener “Lying Awake”, the extra-terrestrial “Dissolve” and foreboding “Shallow Grave”, we’re invited to dance in the darkness in celebration of impending doom. On other occasions, such as the poignant and melancholic closing cut “It Awaits”, Letkiewicz simply seems exasperated at the chaos that is life in the 21st century. It makes for a genuinely arresting and thought-provoking listen.
