NYC DJ and producer @deejaygeedee takes us on a trip in his Astral Planes mix. 

We discovered Gee Dee after hearing his killer Key of Sea EP on @planettrip and soon after realised his releases on @superior-elevation and @light-of-other-days are also winners. 

He has been making noise over the past couple of years as a resident at Brooklyn's @goodroombk, Philadelphia's @davep_makingtime and as the co-founder of Earth Beat, known for playing off-kilter world groovers and weird shit that you can't help but dance to.

For the next edition of the selector series we have invited @garagedisco from Brazil. They are a collective from São Paulo who started off throwing parties in Marlon's garage in 2018 and spreading the good vibes in bars and festivals. Talking to Vini and Gui over the phone about the mix the other day, they told me that all five selected the tracks on a recent trip together, which was then mixed together by Vini and Marlon.  

So what's on the menu today? They have prepared a selection of easy going and irresistibly funky 70's and 80's Brazilian disco and Latin world music, also featuring a recently released edit by Vini. Get your Caipirinha ready, best afternoon vibes coming your way!

Hailing from Montreal, Canada, we are excited to welcome @cornelius_malware for the ninth edition of the selector series. He is part of @discosgraves, a collective and label with a strong audio-visual focus, releasing contemporary electronic music and edits beefing up gems from the past. Cornelius is creator of the label’s own Longboard Cruise edit series, capturing slow life during the hot summer months of coastal Lima. Due to perfect compatibility with the breezy afternoon vibes we curate at KS, we asked him to record a mix to accompany the recent release of the series’ second edition. 

We are glad he accepted - the outcome is a fantastic selection of his personal favourites, taking us on a trip through 80’s funk, boogie, synth-pop and obscure fusions thereof, including previously released and also unreleased material. This set is road trip-approved or alternatively highly recommended for simmering in the tropical sun.

Selector Series 09: CORNELIUS

Next up in the selector series we are very excited to host Monodominical straight from France. He is a seasoned record digger with mixes airing on many of our favourite platforms, owner of "le discobar" a small, well curated and super fun music bar (first-hand confirmed by axel h who had the pleasure to play an extended vinyl-only set there last year), as well as running his own party series "Confetti" with stellar lineups as to expect.

Soo, what's in the bag for the current mix then? We asked Gautier to match the vibes we cultivate at KS and we were not disappointed! Prepare for a mix full of under-the-radar gems from the past that is well suited for warm and sunny afternoons on your favourite terrace, with a melange of slow-flung canzoni italiane, latin soul-funk-samba crossovers, and of course your dose of more upbeat mysterious and weirdo disco we love so much! Selector Series 23: MONODOMINICAL

Next episode of the selector series has arrived, this time hailing from Austria with @discoaldente . He is a record collector from Vienna with a focus on obscure Italo Disco and, besides running his own podcast series on soundcloud, has also released many of his mixes on your favourite music outlets. He contacted us for a mix and we were instantly on board, with the the assignment, as always, on the slower, later summer afternoon, garden-suitable selection for the original KS vibes!

We are more than excited that he hit right on target, delivering an hour full of warm tropical feel-good italo with a strong dose of steel drums, to lighten up your 'Lima la gris' or soundtrack your pool session, wherever you are. His set ranges from reggae-esque italo, cheesy Euro disco, through more synth-heavy, and exotic German Italo gems we really like, culminating with a fun cover of an all-time classic that can't get more summery. Get your Daiquiri ready, add 2cl of blue curaçao, and press play!

New month, new episode of our selector series - this time hailing from Cologne we welcome Earl Orlog! He is one of the most avid all-around record collectors we know, unearthing the most peculiar tracks from around the world which he showcases on his Youtube channel. Besides this, he releases own tracks, edits, and remixes that are worth checking out! 

Needless to say we were excited for this one and we were not disappointed! Let Earl take you on a trip starting off a sun-kissed mediterranean island, through the mysterious streets of Cairo, to some sweaty underground venue in NYC. This podcast is a wild musical potpourri full of novelty digs of different styles, genres, and eras - tune in, sit back, and enjoy!

Selector Series 25: EARL ORLOG

We are up and running with another episode of our selector series. This time we are excited to present a mix by Spöki, who is a music and vinyl lover from Germany and currently based in Berlin. Besides collecting wax with a faible for the Italian side of things, she is frequently seen with heavy baggage touring across Germany to showcase the latest additions to her collection. 

For this mix she prepared a moody Italo-esque and Euro-boogie selection, highly melodic and showcasing the breadth of sweet / weird / heavy synth sounds, vinyl-only of course. Straight from Berlin with a touch of Winter sentimentality as she says - well, we think it's super fresh and equally danceable poolsides in the Tropics! Enjoy! @sp-ki

The next installation of the selector series is here, this time we are honored to have @jeanne_music on board! He is an avid record collector from Marseille, France, digging deep into the lost jewels of forgotten songs across a broad range of genres. 

For this mix he has selected one hour of mainly 80's records taking us on trip from Brasil to Italy, seamlessly blending together Jazz-funk, Boogie, Zouk, and Raï. We love it - original kitchen open air vibes guaranteed!
