Legowelt is the alias of Dutch producer and electronic musician Danny Wolfers. Known for his lo-fi, analog-heavy sound, Legowelt has been a prominent figure in the underground electronic music scene since the late 1990s. His music blends elements of house, techno, electro, and ambient, often characterized by dreamy melodies and gritty textures.

Hailing from The Hague, Netherlands, Legowelt gained recognition with early releases on Bunker Records and Clone. Over the years, he has released dozens of albums and EPs under various aliases, building a cult following worldwide. Beyond music, he is also known for his visual art, software synthesizer patches, and contributions to synth culture.

Legowelt remains an influential and prolific artist, celebrated for his DIY ethos and dedication to hardware-based music production.

Our latest digital release comes from Osaka native Ririko Nishikawa (AKA Lily Ko). Over the past decade in Tokyo, Ririko has DJed at many of the city’s leading venues including Vent and Aoyama Tunnel, sharing the bill with DJs including Chez Damier, Eric Duncan and Acid Pauli.

She made her production debut in November 2024 with the pulsating optimism of Pure Rubber on the Mellow Magic Worldwide Part 2 EP, alongside established artists such as Belgian duo Charlotte & Reinhard, on the Be Strong Be Free label.

Previously only available on vinyl, Pure Rubber is now available digitally exclusively from Palms & Charms.

Carried by a forceful 4/4 and party handclaps, summer, blue sky bleeps play tag with bongos, a break-like beat and a B-line that pays homage to late '80s house. Earlier in 2025, Wevie Stonder returned to Skam with their first album in 16 years, and such an occasion requires further celebration, no? Sure Beats Living delivers more of the collective’s signature cheekiness, and this mix for Bleep unravels all of the wildly eclectic sounds and styles that have powered over two decades of iconoclasm.

This is probably the only mix you’ll find that travels from drill and bass to Ecuadorian synth cumbia to 40s jazz. Constant stylistic U-turns are the name of the game, and as the group recontextualise tracks with comedic skits and spoken word pieces, you never know which little sonic nugget is going to be the jumping off point for a completely opposite yet cleverly connected world of sound. Wevie Stonder’s own strange crossing between avant experimentation and punkish irreverence sits between the jangling bass guitar of Gary Le Strange, whose reclusive hikikomori-induced paranoia is delivered in an ironic nasally britpop voice, and the wonky synth funk of Devonwho with lush crisp beats and thrumming jazzy keys.

Bucolic Moog wash and lounge piano tiptoe beneath a Radiophonic Workshop-esque segment testing out the possibilities of synthesisers; “Finally, an example of rhythmic electronic music,” says the posh presenter, introducing a full and proper rinsing with some classic Squarepusher chops. Amen breaks are chucked in the shredder and glued back together with thick jungle bass, then dissipate into Hiroshi Yoshimura’s birdsong bliss. With these disparate tracklist transitions, each track in itself brings together unlikely combinations: further melodrama from Gary Le Strange pairs southern crooning with jaunty harpsichord, bass punches and cascading pianos flow between J Dilla’s slow hip hop hits, and Polibio Mayorga merges accordion and cowbells with the theatrics of expressively vintage synth sounds, brass and electronics trading lines on ‘Muñequita Blanca’.

Bleep Mix #309 - Wevie Stonder

It is our pleasure to share our latest podcast, this time from Full Circle’s Alexis Le-Tan.  The mix is a live recording taken from Bakk Heia at The White Hotel earlier this year. Alexis began playing around 3am, just as the club had reached capacity. Energy that was simmering under the surface began to be released, the initial hustle and bustle was over and people had found their place on the floor. As such, this mix expertly demonstrates Alexis’ ability to hook dancers in, giving them a playful push before engaging them into full mind melt mode. Starting with genre defying mid-tempo dubby sludgery, it moves into angular strains of new beat adjecent trancers before unleashing the Goa dragons on the rapturous mass of entranced bodies.

R.i.O. welcomes a member. Straight in full length. An album created by Dorsten, North-Rhine-Westfalia based producer Aroma Von Troisdorf - a man who refuses to be put in a box. Unlike others, who politely stay in one lane, he is a tuneful shape shifter. Already his 2021 debut on the Cologne based label Papercup Records smashed Krautrock, Synth-pop, Electro, Ambient, and dub together. His 2023 and 2024 Papercup Ep’s "Buttergolem" and "Rodeln am Rhein" added Italo-Disco, Synth-pop and a drop of experimental Electro to his versatility. Now eight new creations, brilliantly composed, yet - even in odd flashes - effortlessly catchy. They bring once more a stylistic melting pot, now enlarged with The Cure-ish dreamscapes, stretching over guitar riffs and bass grooves, like in the closing ambient-folk star “Zeiten” or the dreamy opening track “Fog Frog Green”. There is the motorik krautrock pulse of “Osmopower”, that boogies heavy in drum machine hypnosis under Aroma’s entrancing new-wave vocals. Tunes like “Dreams Unfold” or “Amplify Shrooms” are likewise propulsive, each one psyching in its very own rhythmic sector. More voices are present too. In the two-minute manic preacher “Colas”, were Togolese rapper and political activist Yao Bobby chants edgy. Or in “Closer”, where singer Aprico sends spoken-word trances echoing through the cosmic jacking. And there is “Lovers Lake”, a hypnotic drift of witchy vocals, bluesy chords, and endless synthscapes, that makes you swim on your feed. Shift the shapes, “Blaumilch” opens the gates.

Beyond their highly sought after 1978 album Festa Para Um Novo Rei - home to the mystical jazz-funk classic ‘Vidigal’ and released on Philips’ iconic Musica Popular Brasileira Contemporanea series (MPBC) - little is known about Marcos Resende & Index, even to aficionados of rare Brazilian music. Far Out Recordings is immensely proud to present their previously unreleased self-titled debut album from 1976, contributing a crucial missing work from the glory days of progressive Brazilian instrumental music.

A prodigious child, Marcos Resende learned to play the accordion at the age of two, and taught himself the piano at six. In spite of his immense potential to become a musician he travelled to Lisbon in the 60s to study medicine, though he continued to explore his musical passion on the side, forming a trio which ended up opening for Dexter Gordon at the Cascais Jazz Festival in 1971. From here he formed the electronic oriented prog-jazz group Status, who opened shows for the likes of Elton John, Phil Woods, Stan Getz, Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers, but in spite of their relative live success they have no known recordings.

Now established as a highly regarded keyboardist, composer, and innovative electronic musician, Resende returned home to Brazil following Portugal’s Revolução dos Cravos in 1974.  Inspired and invigorated by US jazz and British progressive rock he’d experienced while residing in Europe, Resende went all out acquiring a keyboard arsenal to be reckoned with, which included the Prophet 5, Yamaha CP-708 and Mini Moog. Determined to integrate his newfound inspirations with Brazilian rhythms and jazz traditions, he formed a new quartet with Rubão Sabino (bass), Claudio Caribé (drums) and the late great Oberdan Magalhães, of Banda Black Rio and Cry Babies fame. Marcos Resende & Index recorded their self-titled debut at Sonoviso Studios with the legendary sound engineer Toninho Barbosa, known as the ‘Brazilian Rudy Van Gelder’ whose impressive resumé includes the era defining classics Light As A Feather by Azymuth, Previsão Do Tempo by Marcos Valle, and Quem É Quem by João Donato. Marcos Resende & Index fits perfectly amongst these masterpieces, sharing both the timeless ethereal qualities as well as the progressive and futuristic ideals of Light As A Feather in particular.

Though he wasn’t short of offers to release the album, Resende felt record companies were de-valuing the time and effort he spent absorbing his influences while establishing a career in Europe, and perfecting his sound with his Brazilian bandmates, as well as the magnitude of the recording they achieved. As time passed, Resende become one of the most revered session keyboardists in Brazil, and played on records by Gilberto Gil, Chico Buarque, Edu Lobo, Carlos Dafé and Gal Costa, among many others; as a result his career as a bandleader took a backseat, and this remarkable recording has stayed below the surface til now.

Thankfully Marcos kept the tapes from the Sonoviso sessions safe and presented them to Far Out’s Joe Davis at his home in Lisbon in 2018. Now the time is finally right for the album to see the light of day. Marcos Resende & Index will be available on vinyl, CD and digital formats from 29th January 2021.
