The Clouds

During Opera North's 2020 Resonance workshop programme, Leeds-based turntablist and sound artist Nicole Raymond (DJ NikNak) worked with recordings from the archive of poet, playwright and literary activist Khadijah Ibrahiim, transforming them through collage, scratching, reverb, delay and other effects.  

From a Jamaican Rastafarian remembering Haile Selassie’s visit to the island, to recordings of a Black British church choir, the finished series of sound works is rich in untold history and hidden culture.
