Fly By Night kick off 2022’s proceedings with Departure, the second V/A from the label, as FBN010. Departure reflects the full spectrum of the ever-changing UK music sphere, exploring the depths of leftfield dance music, whilst remaining distinctly club-focussed.
FBN010 sees the return of some familiar faces to the label, alongside some exciting fresh faces. Broadly spanning system-rattling, breaks-infused, vocal-stuttering tracks, Departure sets the tone for the year ahead.
All profits raised from FBN010 will go towards UK-based charity Sister Supporter. Sister Supporter is a pro-choice, anti-harassment organisation, who are working towards achieving a national solution to allow those who wish to exercise their legal right to healthcare to do so without interference and judgement. Fly By Night’s Departure V/A is their first release of 2022 and will be out on all digital platforms on Friday 4th March.

Kitsta's dynamic mixing approach and diverse range of influences have established her presence on prominent radio stations like Balamii and Voices, along with guest appearances on Rinse. Beyond her DJ endeavours, she has founded her own label called 'Megababes' and is also a co-founder of The Beatriarchy, a platform that promotes artists from underrepresented backgrounds.


'I recorded this hungover on a Sunday and I think the first half of this mix definitely reflects this with a dark, psychedelic warm up. The latter half is full of groovers and a forthcoming one from me. Hope you enjoy ❤️'

With The Beatriarchy, she works to spotlight underrepresented artists in the music scene, having recently led a workshop at Sheffield’s No Bounds Festival and curated a residency at The Halley Space as part of the Orbit partnership in London. Besides her work in the booth and behind the scenes, she produces euphoric and glistening music touching on prog, trance and hard-house, already supported by artists such as Hammer, Amaliah, Kelly Lee Owens and many more."

Kajsa Villius and Kitsta’s ‘KK1’ opens the EP on with a hard-hitting psy kick and a pulsing bass down low. Cut-up, synth-like vocal samples wriggle above among its stripped-back percussion before ‘KK2’
brings in mysterious melodies, wonky vocals and hypnotic bass, culminating in a whirlpool of psychedelic acid elements.

Kitsta’s solo track ‘Karma Baby’ follows up their collective offerings with racy low-end and earworm melodies before breaking down slow-mo style for the finish. Closing out the EP, Villius delivers ‘K Effect’, a
true ode to modern psytrance-infused house music with tripped-out high-end and layers of driving rhythm and bass.

Her harmonic mixing style and range of influences have handed her residencies at radio stations Balamii & Voices, not to mention guest features on Rinse. 

With appearances at international venues such as Macadam in Nantes & Sacré in Paris, alongside regular performances across the UK, Kitsta's name is on the rise.

This fine blend captivates the true essence of the Sassafrass sound in what is quite frankly a brilliant mix. A massive thank you to Kitsta for providing November's instalment; certainly one to get locked into.
