Perhaps its the colder weather, the lack of sun, or the unknown of tomorrow, but these past few months have left me in a bit of a creative rut. My album is so close to completion that finding ways to push forward into new territories musically has been challenging in a way I haven't experienced before. The weight of finishing "the album" has been weighing heavily on me, but I can say that I'm finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. As it usually does, the hope was sparked by a trip to the desert a couple of weeks ago. The nights are bitterly cold there this time of year, but every day, the sun returns to thaw the world back to life. Walking around Joshua Tree that day, soundtracked by these songs, the sun beating back the cold, it became so clear that there is hope and that music really can cure all. I'm happy to share that soundtrack with all of you today in this mix. Hopefully it can give you some hope too. 

A huge thank you to all of the artists' music that I used. Everyone should check the tracklist below and be sure to take a minute to listen to their music.

You know you’re getting older when the artists you’re watching emerge start to be younger than you are. Some people might find that a bit startling but as long as the talent coming through the ranks is producing music at the quality that Heir is we couldn’t care less how old he is.

A prodigious talent hailing from Stockholm - [Ed. there must be something in the water there] - the 21 year old multi-instrumentalist, DJ, producer, singer and songwriter has had quite the 2015, serving up remixes for the likes of Prides, Montmartre, Goldbass, Tobtok and Vinjette whilst beginning to forge a fierce reputation for his own material. Also operating under the names Skogsrå and Charlie England - he's half English - his debut track 'Now You See Me' astonishly racked up over 710,000 plays on Soundcloud quickly garnering him an army of fans as his sound went viral.  For his latest trick he's hooked up with  fellow swede, Oliver Nelson for winter banger 'Found Your Love' which having landed on Perfect Havoc we've been unable to get out of heads or off of our playlist. Backed by remixes from Blonde, Kill Them With Colour and Plastic Plates, Celsius we thought that there was no better time than now to welcome the meteorically rising producer to the DT fold getting him to deliver a set of selections guaranteed to give you that Friday feeling. The last year has been weird. Foggy endless evenings in my studio, days locked in a cervical neck collar, nights on overnight flights, early mornings in hotel rooms. When you're working through an injury, depression, heartbreak, or even just anxiety about the world, I've always found that the days just start to blend together. The past year feels like an endless haze, full of questions and half answers. I always try to contextualize these mixes, but the truth is, making music has been true north, the one real escape. I've always used music this way, and I'm realizing more as I get older that music is pretty unimpeachable in that way. So what I can promise is that this mix is pure - full of a lot of that confusion, cloudiness, heartbreak, and hope. If you're feeling those things, this mix is for you. I hope it can be a window of hope or a ray of light; an escape you can close your eyes to and breathe for a minute.
