Kitty the Lion are a band from Glasgow who use folky instruments on pop tunes. Praised for thoughtful lyrics and ballsy live performances, the band have gigged up and down the country since their inception, including coveted slots at T in the Park and Edinburgh's Hogmanay Street Party. They have also built dens out of bunk-beds, worn clothing made of tents and leapt from a burning van somewhere on the A9. Kitty the Lion are currently busy writing new material with a view to releasing their debut album in 2012.

Kitty the Lion are a 5-piece pop band from Glasgow, in Scotland.

Since the release of their debut single 'Lion in the Bed', the band have gained considerable support and acclaim from the Scottish music scene and beyond, earning them coveted slots at Rockness and T in the Park, and the chance to play to thousands at Edinburgh's Hogmanay festivities. The band have played several dates with Brit-Award nominated Ben Howard, and had their music featured in BBC drama series 'Lip Service.'


The finely-crafted lyrics by front-woman Anna are perhaps the defining aspect of the band. Word-play and double-entendres characterise Kitty the Lion's songs, as well as the waspish delivery of the lines: "imagine a less laconic, much cleverer, Scottish Lily Allen" (The Scotsman). What matters most to the band though are their ballsy live performances, causing a fine racket and setting every toe tapping.


Having received funding from Creative Scotland, Kitty the Lion are currently recording their debut album with Paul Savage at Chem19 Studios, and will be releasing the record on Comets and Cartwheels in Autumn 2013.
