With his new album, 'Small World' now available, Canadian artist Def3 drops a funky new banger, “Sing,” featuring hard-hitting verses from Masta Ace and Probcause, and slick cuts from Skratch Bastid.

The three emcees kick their boastful bars over soulful bounce provided by Denver’s Late Night Radio, who actually produced the entirety of the LP. It’s a fitting backdrop for the rappers to do their thing, which includes plenty of rewind-worthy wordplay and quotables. 

After Def3 proclaims his desire to “rather be a shepherd than a wolf or a sheep,” he passes the mic to Masta Ace who takes well-aimed shots at the bullsh*t going on stateside. That’s evident right from the opening bars of his verse where he raps, “Here’s an anthem that you’d be happy to stand for.” Chicago’s Probcause is no slouch, either, as he weaves in and out of the pocket with a shape-shifting flow that transitions right into Skratch Bastid dicing up the outro.

On his rare days off from playing with his organ, the hyper-sexualised Mr Stabalina has been fiendishly plundering the internet planes, jazz cafes, and porn stashes gathering samples, bass licks and obscure vocals so prolifically that the hard drive behind his sticky keyboard is all but fit to burst.

It’s been a long long time coming, but thankfully his hoarded samples have been discharged - and laced with his own super slick original instrumentation - to crank out this delectable EP. ‘Do You Like It’ is a natural progression from where he left us with 2016’s ‘Rock the Party’ - chock-full of funky cuts, nostalgic throwbacks, eargasmic production and lube.

While good ol’ Mr S’s first release was s̶e̶m̶e̶n̶a̶l̶ seminal in the funky breaks scene, he’s spent the past two years honing his skills, style, and bone to produce these five tracks so undeniably funky that dance floors around the globe are about to blow their load.

Minneapolis-based producer and vocalist Megan Hamilton fulfills her mantra of “causing funky riots and catchy house tunes” with her newest EP, Feed the Animals, out now on Gravitas Recordings. This latest offering delivers an amalgam of Megan’s two biggest influences, midtempo glitch hop and house music. Feed the Animals was inspired to bridge the gap between her influences and previous works to produce a polished extension of her current brand and sound. The four-track EP feature musicality and melody that simultaneously uphold the minimalism of house and contemporary weird sound designs.

A soothing music box commences “Cosmic Soup,” with a groovy soundscape and piano break that segues into progressive house and oscillating wubs.
