It’s all in the name of Isabeau who grew up on the shores of the North Sea, the land of ancient fishing villages: "Beaufort" is a scale that measures the intensity of wind in your sails from "just sufficient to give you steerage" to "that which no sails could withstand". Scaling in between Light Breeze and Fresh Gale, she is that wind – gentle, sometimes vigorous – that fills your sails, lifts you high, flies you far and brings you back intact, refreshed and enriched.

Deek That is the musical brainchild of Andrey Turukin and Roma Khanov. The duo has already seen their music released on such record labels as Ruvenzori, Amulanga, Fidem Community, Radi Mira i Lubvi, Bar 25 and Where The Shadow Ends, adding to that their very own release of “Makha”, a track which made it to the Top 10 of the dance charts on iTunes and Google Play. The undeniable success for the duo was their track “Streptopelia”, which graced the dancefloors of many key events, including Odyssey Festival, AfterHallowen and Boiler Room. What makes Deek That stand apart is their signature dense yet melodic House filled with a very danceable groove and heartwarming melodies infused with organic sounds. It is exactly that sound which catapulted Deek That to a brand new orbit of stardom in 2022 with a release of their “Fulgor Solis” EP. The release was critically acclaimed by the major players of the electronic scene: “Nice set of tracks” (Tim Green), “Fabulous music” (Nick Warren), “Nicetunes” (Tony McGuinness), whereas John Digweed himself played “Fulgor Solis” during his seminal Transitions radio show. One of their latest productions, a track called “Ramdeesun”, was released on Amulanga, an imprint ranking among world’s best Organic House labels, and peaked at number one on Beatport Hype Chart (Organic House). The track has been included in many different compilations and played by Facundo Mohrr at Burning Man.

Not only do the Deek That followers share the duo’s musical taste, they also appreciate how Roma and Andrey go about organizing their  parties. The events by Khanov and Turukin are famous for their unique atmosphere due to choosing one-of-a-kind venues and paying highest attention even to the smallest detail. In the course of last year, Deek That staged their events in a historical castle, on boats and even on a train. Among the artists regularly invited to join the duo on stage are the likes of Gorje Hewek, Izhevski, Volen Sentir, Amonita, Makebo and M.O.S., who share the same musical aesthetics. Being based in Yaroslavl, Russia, Deek That have listeners far beyond their homeland. As 2024 drew to a close, I found myself revisiting those times by diving back into GTA III. When Fade Away played on the radio, it felt like a forgotten fragment of my younger self resurfacing. Nostalgia gripped me, and I felt compelled to reimagine the song as I had dreamed of it at sixteen. The result is Fade Away (mutehim.'s grand theft touch)—a remix shaped by the echoes of the past and the lens of the present.

Kaan Pinar began his journey in music production during his childhood and delved into electronic dance music in his early twenties. Since 2017, he has released singles and EPs under international labels such as Vögel(n) Mit Freunden, Rhyme & Hype, and Syncopate Afterhours, earning recognition from notable artists like Ole Biege and Melody Stranger, with whom he also collaborated. In 2021, he launched a new artistic project under the name mutehim. -marking a fresh chapter in his creative journey. Since then, he has continued to craft innovative electronic sounds while bringing his music to audiences through captivating performances at prominent venues and events.

Space and time both play a role in pølaroit’s music. A felt connection to Jonas and Marius’ hometowns in Northern Germany, their geography, as well as a sense of pertaining to a specific instant in time, a generation, are both expressed in the duo’s strain of melodic deep house, “We see our music as a snapshot of time and music,” they say. The chosen name for the duo, pølaroit, is a reference to this idea of capturing a moment and it tributes both their northern roots (Polar) as well as the birthplace of techno (Detroit). Jonas and Marius, both in their mid-twenties, grew up near Hanover - yet it was only in 2018 that they crossed paths for the first time. Prior to that, Jonas had been developing his own work as a pianist, influenced by neo-classical artists such as Nils Frahm (@nils_frahm) and Olafur Arnalds (@olafur-arnalds) as well as scoring pieces for film and advertisement. Marius on the other hand, who had been playing the drums since a young boy, started his musical path at sixteen deeply influenced by his interest in percussion and the urban electronic music scene of the time. When both met at a Christmas market in Hanover, after one too many cups of glühwein, they set a studio date just for fun. From that first day it became immediately clear to both that Jonas’ melancholic piano melodies weaved themselves seamlessly to Marius buoyant beats, and that there was more than just “fun” happening in the alchemy of their sounds, “after a few hours only, the first draft of our track Firøye was born and we recognized that we worked pretty well together,” says pølaroit. 

pølaroit’s debut EP, ‘expedition into’ (out via Stil vor Talent @stilvortalent) defined the duo’s moody sound somewhere in between melancholic downtempo and uplifting melodies, and captivated audiences around Germany. Their current EP, Pure, released via Christian Löffler’s Ki Records (@ki-records), continues to draw on the dichotomy of these two emotions but this time around there’s a bigger sense of presence and liveliness. Through the use of field recordings and vocals, pølaroit wants to rescue the human and organic element of creativity in their music, “Sometimes it's just a recording of rumbling leaves or organic textures that make the sound more tangible.”
