Paul Moore - Humble Feat. Little Mouse (Klartraum Remix)

Early  May  will see  Mihai  Popoviciu  return  with  his second  long  player  in the  shape  of the ‘Home’  LP on Bondage  music, comprising  twelve  original  compositions  from the Romanian artist.

Mihai Popoviciu : "The album’s called "home" because it is inspired by my experiences from my home city Sibiu in Romania. Home is also the place where the album was produced, in my stripped down studio. It is where I always return to rest and chill after touring the world and the place where I feel most safe and comfortable. The artwork shows an image of the airport lane in Sibiu with surrounding hills and mountains in the back. It is a metaphoric "gate" to both leave and return home."

Romania’s Mihai Popoviciu has carved out quite the career over the past decade releasing material through the likes of Highgrade, Hudd Traxx, Poker Flat and Fear of Flying. Here though we see him deliver his second full-length album and return to Bondage Music following a single on the label back in
2013.

Across the project Mihai delivers his signature dance floor focused, stripped back style with records like ‘ACK’,  ‘Sandstone  Folder’  and  ‘Tentacle  Operated’  showcasing  the  hypnotic  and  percussive  style Popoviciu  executes  so well. The project also drifts into smooth dubby realms via compositions  like
‘Cannon Poets’ and ‘Sunshine’ while the likes of ‘Triumph’ and ‘Music 999’ radiantly display Mihai’s proficient production abilities as he wanders into a brighter more house centric sound.

All in all Mihai Popoviciu turns in a coherent long player whilst exploring a broad range of styles, ‘Focus and ‘Havana’ lay down a groove-led feel with subtle modulations  and an unfaltering structure, while ‘Data On Data’, ‘Paranoia’ and ‘Hypnosia’ tip the focus over to dark and brooding territories with murky synth  pads  and  chuggy  low  end  tones.  Once  again  Popoviciu  has  proven  himself  to  be  one  of Romania’s finest electronic music exports.

Kicking things off, Meyer delivers an enchanting ride with 'LA Strings', where whimsical pads rise and sweep as a hypnotizing bass line whirls endlessly across a landscape of earthy percussion. While still maintaining his trademark sound but taking a slightly deeper path, Meyer conjures up the super dreamy 'Uluwatu'. Settled firmly in rich organic percussion and lush melodies, 'Uluwatu' jaunts effortlessly through overgrown rain forests and lavish emotions. 

Next up is Gorje Hewek and Izhevski's 'Turgoyakk' and it's an absolute gem. Opulent pads, sensuous strings and powerful keys culminate in a profoundly vivid tour into truly emotional territory. Finally, YokoO & Retza deliver an impressive number with the dazzling 'Satori' which is laced with ornate keys and soft siren calls rounding up the release with timeless style. All tracks will be released together on one 12" vinyl and two separate EPs digitally.

We’ve nabbed the latter from the Turbo boss, who highlights the tracks’ lo-fi potential and finds a patient beauty in longer, drawn out synths. The 'Under The Gun' remixes from Tiga and Michael Mayer are out on January 26 and Clarian's debut LP 'Television Days' is out on February 23, both via Australia's Balance Music.

Living in the South of Italy, Catania based DJ and producer Toto Chiavetta returns to Osúnlade​'s label Yoruba Records and releases the 'Nagnu Jubo Remixes EP'. The four tracker includes two brand new cuts by Toto, 'Hunters' and 'Minds', as well as a Yoruba Soul Mix and Dub by label honcho Osunlade of 'Nagnu Jubo', a track taken from Chiavetta's debut album 'Impermanence', released on Yoruba in September 2016. Contrary to burgeoing expectations of summer-ish sounding musical pieces Chiavetta remains true to his dark-twisted and stripped down music hunting for its listener's minds on the dance floor. The EP's closing track, 'Hunters', is no exception and reflects the Sicilian's preference for techy influenced with percussions and sparse synth-chords enriched music that pays attention to detailed and carefully elaborated soundscapes to create a dark almost mystical atmosphere.

Toto Chiavetta's EP 'Nagnu Jubo (Remixes)' will be released March 23th, 2018 on Yoruba Records.

Italian producer and Fine Human Records label head Dino Lenny lands on Crosstown Rebels for the first time this November, bringing his distinct and personal style to the label on the absorbing Doctor, also featuring a remix from Nuiton.

The haunting, emotive vocals of Dino impress throughout on Doctor, chugging groove moves alongside waves of dark electronics and panic-struck, devilish synth. A track crafted to capture the inner workings of Lenny’s mind, transforming them into a hypnotic piece. Nuiton remixes Doctor on the reverse, adding energy to the original with skipping hats and quirky arrangements, building tension that reaches an intense jazzy crescendo of percussion and brass to leave you in a headspin. On the digital release a dub version loses the voice but retains the mysticism.

With almost 30 years of releasing records under his belt, Dino Lenny has naturally built an incredible back catalogue of remixes and collaborations. He’s worked with some of the biggest names in the business, yet his productions retain a unique style that is all his own. A true lover of the 80s, when he needs that extra touch he will add his vocals to the music, always trying to deliver something original that will stand the test of time, often opting for imperfect unique experience over precise emotionless never-ending loops.
