I wrote this tune as an optimistic "Hello" to the team I hope to assemble. Or perhaps its the band I dream of putting together. I want to make things (music, design, fun, love, whatever) with you. To put goodness out into the world and leave this world a better place.

It is also intended as an “I miss you” to all of the musicians, dancers, artists, designers, product folks, engineers, coaches, confidantes and other collaborators that I have been so privileged to work with in my life and career.

I channel all the wizarding wonder of my friend Brian Clark (RIP) when I repeat his challenge to me years ago: “Why wouldn’t you want to work with people you love?”

Well, Brian, I actually prefer it. And I am blessed to have had—and still have—people that I love mixed in with my work life. That’s a goal for me. A requisite for my collaborations to come.

And there is more to come. And when we do get together, it will be important that we are each able to run like a finely-tuned engine: well-calibrated and ready to run. 

Let’s jam. Let’s practice. LEt’s create together.
And hell yeah! Let’s hit the road together.
Let’s make life one big, long and positively impactful tour.

Finally, I must add that the collaboration that went into this song is emblematic of its intention:
Not only did Mark Sunderland (one of the most brilliant copy writers, musicians, and adventurous fun-seekers that I know of) KNOCK IT OUT OF THE PARK when he added the incredible horns and backing vocals, but he took the feedback while mixing in stride and he worked his masterful craft while honoring my desires for the final “feel” of it all. And he did all that shit remotely in zoom sessions making it feel like we were right there together. He’s a true collaborator and friend. He brought in our friends and talented musicians to collaborate too…Brandy Gill shredded some guitar madness all over the ending of this thing. And wow, Dante Lima added some incredibly beautiful slide guitar in the break and was so inspired by the songs melody and message, that he offered to add the most hauntingly beautiful backing vocals. I’ve never worked with Dante before, but his father, Julio has been a powerful inspiration, mentor for me personally and a very loud voice in the design/community/culture space back in Orlando. Words cannot describe how moving it is to learn that your good friends baby boy has grown up to be a talented and genuinely kind man.

Liguria in Three Ways

Song I wrote back in 2014 when living in Manhattan. 
It's taken me a long time to get around to recording a demo version of it. But here it is. 

My dear friend back in Orlando, Jeannine Gage, helped me write the bridge and make the lyrics a little more crisp, so a big thanks—and a songwriting credit—to her. Hopefully, she'll sing and/or play ukelele on it with me :) 

Ever since I first wrote it, I've daydreamed about having former bandmates play on this track.  Just feels like a song we would've done back in the day. 

I want the vocal to be more emotive. I sang these scratch tracks when I had covid. Kind of whispered them into the mic. Needs to be sung louder/more powerfully. I've always wanted someone like Ben Gibbard from Death Cab, or James McNew from Yo La Tengo singin on it. 

Anyway, about the song… I lived alone in Brooklyn Heights for a year. I rode my bike everywhere. And I'd stand out on the Promenade and marvel at the view of Manhattan. I'd often wonder what it'd be like to have a good friend or a date ride with me over to Brooklyn with me so we could share the view.

It is said that Abraham Lincoln once stood on the Brooklyn Promenade, looked across at the island of Manhattan, and said, "There may be finer views than this in the world, but if so, I haven't seen them"

Truth

This was recorded at Greg Rike Studios in Altamonte Springs, Florida, and was intended to be an official full-length release…but it never saw the light of day and remains an unreleased demo.

A Plea For Attention

One of the most awesome and musically intense bands I've ever been in. This band started out as Digginlilies, but when we added the bass player, Mike Jolley, we changed the name and started recording and playing live under the moniker, Gasganno.
The music was a lot more "math rock" than anything else I had done previously, and I liked it because they weren't pop song so much focused on the lyrics as it was focused on instrumentation and all-out rocking.
I split from the band shortly after this recording was done so I could focus on my design career. Jarrod Dyer, Maury Gil, and Mike Jolley went on to release a few of the songs which I did not write/sing lyrics for on an EP entitled "Minus to Plus".
