Adrift

Eurorack modular Krell composition inspired by Todd Barton's Buchla Krell patch. MakeNoise DPO as the complex oscillator, Xaoc Zadar and Intellijel Quadra + expander for envelopes, Malekko Dual Borg for LPG duties and a Doepfer A-103 for the low pass filter. The random elements were generated by the Mutable Instruments Marbles module and reverb and delay were added at the end by an Erica Synths Pico DSP and a TipTop z5000.

Kept it very simple with two melodies played on the Buchla Skylab, one at 7 and the other at 13 beats. Very little automated modulation much of it is done or triggered from the Kinesthetic Input Port. Would like to have had more time to develop it but that wasn't possible this week.

"It doesn’t feel like we’re walking anymore. It feels like we’re just flowing down our own paths. The concrete disappears underneath us, giving way to a deep black. Same with the sky above us. All I see are sheets of blues and purples and greens passing all around us as we continue our journey. After weaving around endless lefts and rights for awhile longer, I look up at the black sky and see a reflection of my face without a body. Kind of just floating in the darkness. I see my eyes, my mouth, my cheeks. I see my nose. I stretch my hands out to try to touch it but it’s just beyond my reach. And the more that I reach, the further away it gets, until I can no longer see it."
