After I finished recording this episode, I realized I'd played two records featuring Jorge Santana - one by his group Malo, and another with him as a guest with the Fania All-Stars. I looked him up and realized he had sadly passed away last spring. Rest in Power Jorge Santana! I hope everyone enjoys his guitar work on these tunes as well as the other tracks featured here.

Tartelet Records is proud to present its 2019 compilation ‘The Second Best Time is Now’, featuring nine unreleased tracks from its pool of esteemed artists. This year, all proceeds will be donated to the Natural Resources Defense Counsel, one of the world’s most effective environmental action organizations. 

Ho ho ho—Tartelet Records has once again reached into its secret stash of tricks and dug out some incredible gems. Following 2016’s compilation success with all proceeds sent to Syria’s White Helmets, the 2019 Christmas release has attracted an even broader spectrum of sound from nine of the label’s most honorable artists.  

Featuring Tartelet Records’ signature eclectic mix of genres, Christmas is saved with unreleased works by Wayne Snow and digitalluc, jitwam, Space Ghost, Glenn Astro, Kasper Marott, Verner, N.O.T.E, and label head Dirk 81. Each track has been handpicked by the artist themselves to represent their unique style in support of a bold charitable cause.  

This year, the Natural Resources Defense Counsel (NRDC) has been selected as the recipient of all proceeds. As one of the world’s most prominent environmental protection organizations, it strives to protect nature in ways that advance the long-term welfare of present and future generations. Tartelet Records is proud to support this important mission with its exclusive end-of-year release. 

Tartelet Records’ 2019 Christmas compilation can be downloaded for free but listeners are encouraged to donate what they feel is appropriate. All donations go towards the Natural Resources Defense Counsel to support our planet’s most pressing problems. To find out more visit www.nrdc.org. 

The compilation will be available on Bandcamp December 2nd and all digital and streaming services from December 15th.
