kleinVerhaal organised a series of workshops in the prison of Bruges for the prisoners. In twelve sessions musicians Jeroen Van Herzeele (sax, Ewi, analogue synths)and Giovanni Barcella (drums, percussion)together with animation filmmaker Mario Debaene experimented with sounds and video. The prisoners were welcome to join, to jam, to try out, to experiment. Everything was possible, no obligations.

In the sessions there was a sense of 'liberty', some hours of artistic oxygene for everyone involved. Sometimes the jams went on for 3 hours consecutive.

We recorded every session. From all the hours of music we've made this "Inmate Sessions Vol I" compilation album to share with you. 

The music sounds always urgent, crazy and polyrythmic with an electronic pulse and at times soundscape-alike. The words from the rapper will hit u hard.

DREUN werd in 2017 in de ateliers van Tordale, zorginstelling voor mensen met (het vermoeden van) een verstandelijke beperking, in Torhout opgericht door gitarist/drummer Keanu Dewilde (RIP, Embers, The Ostend Street Orkestra).

kleinVerhaal nodigde KRANKLAND (Thomas Werbrouck) uit, rasmuzikant die zich verdiepte in muziek buiten de mainstream, om de krachten te bundelen met DREUN voor de ontwikkeling van nieuwe songs en opnames op het Drift muzieklabel.

DREUN XL werd geboren, een explosieve combinatie van negen muzikanten, superheroes pur sang, gespecialiseerd in bezwerende, psychedelische composities en het het slopen van geluidsmuren.
Gevraagd naar de muzikale invloeden hoorden we zowel Black Sabbath, GOAT als the Stooges galmen.

Koor Westerkwartier brings a passionate ode to Lange Nelle, the famous lighthouse in Ostend.

Koor Westerkwartier is a choir founded by community arts organisation kleinVerhaal in the Westerkwartier, a busy folksy neigbourhood in Ostend (Belgium). The choir members write their own texts mostly in dialect, about the magical sea, about fishermen made from steel sailing their wooden ships and about sand from the beach crawling between ur toes. They sing with a fine dose of humour about leaving your loved ones and coming back: 'weg en weere'.

Musical coaches are Yves Meersschaert and Hans Van Cauwenberghe.
