Fluid Woods marks the 3rd collaborative effort between Audio Imperia and Performance Samples, falling in lock step with Fluid Brass’ goals: fast repetition-sourced shorts sampling in a decidedly easy-to-use interface.

The instrument configuration is traditional: solo flute, solo oboe, solo clarinet, solo bassoon, and solo piccolo - recorded in tutti in the same room as Fluid Brass. The library highlights up to 8 dynamics and 6 rep speeds, going above and beyond even Fluid Brass in terms of expression.

All samples within Fluid Woods are sourced from real repetition performances, for enhancing the cohesive energy of your lines. We’ve also recorded the samples at different speeds (six in total), with the faster speeds automatically triggered based on your playing speed, to accommodate faster phrases – leading to more fluent and realistic performances because you are triggering samples that are actually pulled from faster performances.

With so many enthusiastic users of our libraries, it was inevitable that at some point one of our dedicated supporters would envision an inspiring idea for our next venture. So it is with Sotto X, an analog synth remix of our original Sotto library, suggested by Davide Carbone. We jumped on his exciting concept to re-tool our orchestral classics with lush synth phrases, and ran with the idea, which has grown into a full library in its own right.
Just like Davide, we share a love for the sound of old synths, and vintage hardware has long been a fascination for the team here at Sonokinetic. As fledgling music producers, long before we could afford high-end orchestral recording, we would craft intricate facsimiles of orchestral sections using nothing more than MIDI programming and synthesizers.

With Sotto X we bring this journey full circle, adding an extra dimension to our favorite orchestral phrase libraries. Soto X is a fully analog, synthesized version of our popular Sotto collection. Very playable in its own right, and also designed to complement the existing Sotto orchestral phrases. The sounds within have been expertly created and recorded using an analog signal path, for both the synth tones and post-production effects.
Our collaborators for Sotto X are the sound design wizards at Samplify in Australia. These masters of retro gear took the original orchestral scores for Sotto and transformed them into lush arpeggios and melodic pads. Using a huge collection of vintage synths (including classic models from Roland, Korg, Moog and Oberheim) the Samplify team used their expertise to extract maximum warmth and emotion from the hardware. This results in a collection of synth performances like no other; inspired by the orchestra but versatile enough for multi-genre scoring. Taking things a step further, the signal path was then enhanced using a bountiful collection of analog processing; including reverb, delay and compression units

Exquisite Intimacy; Many people assume that Sonokinetic’s signature sound is grand and statuesque, as we fill our recording space with many talented players and layer phrases together in our bespoke Kontakt engines. However, sometimes it’s great to dial things down for a more personal feel, and that’s just what we’ve done with Indie. The style of these intimate ensemble phrases take their lead from modern TV drama, boutique film and independent video games with a naked and personal sound.
Recording smaller versions of our string, woodwind and brass ensembles just wasn’t enough this time around, so we’ve also supplemented them with a huge selection of melodic percussion phrases. For the first time ever, string quartet phrases have been included, perfect for layering with the other ensembles to bring the focus back to your compositions. The overall emphasis here is on the lightest of touches, from delicate violin duos and solo clarinet to harp glissandi and gently played mallets. 
In fact, the melodic percussion deserves a special mention as we made sure to catch all the subtly and wonder of these instruments, including the seldom-sampled concert cimbalom, a dulcimer-like instrument with a unique sound. The dreamy melodic textures we composed for Indie were delicately played by our performers in the same space as the other ensembles. Marimba, xylophone, glockenspiel, vibraphone, crotales, upright piano, celesta and concert harp bring an intense personal feel to the whole collection.
We felt that the Indie recordings were well suited to the playback engine which we originally debuted with ‘Noir’, our jazz-drenched section library. That means that the 12 preset keys each hold a single performance. Mapping phrases like this makes it easy to combine melodies and harmonies and hear real-time performances intertwine with one another. 
The randomize feature also makes a welcome return, which conjures twelve complimentary phrases with every press. There’s also the option to randomize per orchestral section, either string quartet, string ensemble, woodwinds, brass quintet or melodic percussion
