Multi Culti are proud to present the debut EP from Sao Paolo's Voodoohop resident, Thomash.

DJ Thomash has set up one of the most influential nights in the bazooming Brazilian scene with his Voodoohop party, a fusion of tropical hedonism and avant-garde trance-inducing European electronic music, a lively mix that no doubt has its genesis in his transplanted German roots (he's from Cologne aka Kompakt-ville). He's shared the stage with guys like Rebolledo, Joakim, Acid Pauli and more, and now finally looks to colonize the world with his first release.

Interestingly, Thomash has a degree in artificial intelligence, so while it might just be our imagination, it does seem that the rhythms, full of oddly tuned percussion and colorful synth stabs seem imbued with a distinct internal logic, playful forms that bounce off each other in their own reality, according to their own laws. This narrative of the ethnoid, German-Brazilian AI ties in nicely with the title: Candomble is the name of an Afro-Brazilian religion, meaning literally 'dance in honour of the gods.' Fortunately for us, Thomash seems to be honouring some scarcely acknowledged, far-out deities... spritely DMT-elves. Ectoplasma further plays into this reading, both in title and in vibe, floating unconcerned with material dancefloor goals into a space of peaceful imagination and spirit. Finally, Calango Fumando Palha is a soft, dreamy morning peyote-fire anthem… a healing latin lullaby to soothe troubles and set positive vibes free.

Called in to take us deeper into the trip are Multi Culti's go-to sooth-sayers DREEMS, who lead us forwards in full-chakra-alignment with the originals, bringing bigger bass into the heart of the jungle, tripping on acid, leaving us loose-limbed, wide-eyed, and open-minded in bliss as the final chords tuck us in and kiss us goodnight. You’d be forgiven for not knowing the newest addition to the slowly expanding Claremont 56 roster. You see, there’s been no recorded output from German combo Bambi Davidson since the release of their largely overlooked “minimal post-rock” debut album, El Faco, in 2000. Until now, that is.

Following the release of their debut set, founder members Robin van Velzen (guitar/vocals) and Hans Christian Fuss (drums) became frustrated with their lot. Bored with “rocking out” as a two-piece, they decided to start inviting other musicians to join them on stage. That meant that each performance was unique, with new tunes – often improvised on the spot – being developed for, or at, every gig.

It’s an approach that frequently paid dividends. One particular collaborative gig, with Mountaineer) and Sofia Fuss, went so well that both were asked to become permanent members of the band.

into the studio to record a new album, some 15 years after they’d recorded their debut. As you’d expect with a new line-up, things are a bit different this time round. Whereas El Flaco was a stripped-back affair with most tracks featuring just guitar, drums and vocals, Bambi Davidson features additional bass, electronics and keys provided by Frank and Sophia. The result is an expansive but atmospheric album built around sensual, undulating production.

Often magical and always immersive, the six tracks that make up Bambi Davidson are delightfully contrary. While pleasingly accessible and capable of inducing broad smiles on on each listen. This is particularly true of “Foxhunting” – reminiscent of fellow Claremont 56 with Van Velzen’s weary, emotional vocals riding a wave of vibrant colours. Hazy, intoxicating and evocative, it sounds like a horizontal anthem in the making.

There are plenty of other highlights, too, from the hypnotic, pitched-down dub-disco-meets- touchy-feely rhythms and stargazing chords of “Hubble”, the four-piece’s most intergalactic cut yet. Give it time, and we guarantee that you’ll fall in love with Bambi Davidson as much as we have.

Víctor Lidio Jara Martínez (1932-1973) fue un músico, cantautor, profesor y director de teatro chileno. Fue militante del Partido Comunista de Chile.

La figura de Víctor Jara es un referente internacional de la canción protesta y de cantautor, y uno de los artistas más emblemáticos del movimiento músico-social llamado «Nueva Canción Chilena». Su ideología comunista se refleja en su obra artística, de la que fue pieza central.

Tras el golpe de Estado que derrocó al gobierno de Salvador Allende el 11 de septiembre de 1973, Jara fue detenido por las fuerzas represivas de la dictadura militar recién establecida. Fue torturado y posteriormente asesinado en el antiguo Estadio Chile, que con el retorno de la democracia fue renombrado «estadio Víctor Jara».
