Kimberly Nicholas is a sustainability scientist at Lund University. She is the author of UNDER THE SKY WE MAKE: How to be Human in a Warming World, and the monthly climate newsletter We Can Fix It.   Born and raised on her family’s vineyard in Sonoma, California, she studied the effect of climate change on the California wine industry for her PhD in Environment and Resources at Stanford University. 
Her goal is to understand how to steward ecosystems to support a good life for everyone alive today, and leave a thriving planet for future generations.
I met Kimberly in her yard in Lund in the middle of June to talk about her new book and what its like to be a climate scientist during this escalating climate crises, how to make people aware of the fact that we need to act now and that we need to change our exploitation mindset into a regeneration mindset and redefine what a good life is really about. We also talked about why feelings are so important and the need to make space for grief, but also for visions and how we as individuals have much more power to make meaningful change than most of us realise.

Katharine Hayhoe is a climate scientist and chief scientist for The Nature Conservancy. She is also the Endowed Professor in Public Policy and Public Law and a Professor at Texas Tech University. 
She has been named a United Nations Champion of the Earth and one of Time ’s 100 Most Influential People-
Katharine was a lead author for the U.S. Second, Third, and Fourth National Climate Assessments, hosts the PBS digital series Global Weirding, and has written for The New York Times. 

Her TED Talk “The Most Important Thing You Can Do to Fight Climate Change: Talk About It” has been viewed over 5 million times. She has a BSc in physics and astronomy from the University of Toronto and an MS and a PhD in atmospheric science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Katharine Hayhoe has been called One of the nations most effectice communicators on climatechange, by the New York times and in September her new book Saving Us A Climate Scientist's Case for Hope and Healing in a Divided World, was published.

Sanna Ghotbi är expert på medborgardeltagande på Digidem Lab, som erbjuder tjänster och utvecklar metoder och verktyg för framtidens deltagande demokrati.  
För att lyckas genomföra den enorma omställning som vi måste göra är det förstås enormt viktigt att också stärka demokratin. Därför kan medborgarråd vara en avgörande metod för att vanliga människor ska få vara med och forma politiken. Det är ju ganska uppenbart att dagens politiska system inte klarar av att fatta de nödvändiga besluten för att undvika klimatkrisens värsta effekter.

Torsten Krause is a senior lecturer at the Lund University Centre for Sustainability Studies.  He holds a Bachelor (BSc) in International Business Administration from the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt/Oder, Germany and the Ecole Superieure de Commerce in Montpellier, France; and a Masters degree (MSc) in Environmental Studies and Sustainability Science from Lund University.
From 2009 to 2013 he conducted his PhD research in the Ecuadorian Amazon studying the social-ecological and economic effects of a national conservation incentive program. 
Since then he has  continued to work with topics around environmental activism, forest governance, deforestation, biodiversity, conservation and sustainable development in Ecuador, Colombia, Nigeria and South Africa. 
We met at Lund university the 17th of April to talk about activism, how biodiversity loss is linked to the climate crises and many other topics.

#105 Torsten Krause – It's not about saving the planet, it's about saving ourselves

Martin Smedjeback ägnar  all sin tid åt klimatet och djurrättsaktivism. Han håller föredrag och håller utbildningar i ickevåld-och använder själv ofta civil olydnad i sin kamp för en bättre värld. Martin har varit ordförande för Kristna studentrörelsen i Sverige och var anställd på Kristna Fredsrörelsen i sju år, men är idag ateist.
I oktober 2008 hamrade och rispade han, som aktivist i det antimilitaristiska nätverket Ofog, på 14 Carl Gustaf granatgevär som en del av kampanjen Avrusta. För detta dömdes han till fyra månaders fängelse. I mars 2009 greps han tillsammans med Annika Spalde och Pelle Strindlund från Ofog när de var på väg in i en av Saabs hangarer i Linköping för att där hamra på Jasplan avsedda för export. Domen blev fem månaders fängelse.
Martin var också med och startade djurrättsgruppen Tomma burar som har utfört så kallade öppna djurfritagniningar i Sverige. För fyra av dessa aktioner har han avtjänat två fängelsestraff på vardera en månad. Han är sedan 2017 ordförande i föreningen Save Movement Sverige
2010: fick han Ickevåldspriset och 2014: Martin Luther King-priset

I det här avsnittet träffar jag Beatrice Rindevall, ordförande i Naturskyddsföreningen, som länge varit en tydlig och kunnig röst i svensk miljödebatt. Hon har ett starkt engagemang för frågor som rör skog, klimat och biologisk mångfald, och var tidigare chefredaktör för Supermiljöbloggen.

Vi pratar om varför den svenska skogens klimatnytta minskar, varför kalhyggesbruket fortfarande dominerar trots att alternativen finns. Samtalet handlar också om hoten mot civilsamhället och miljörörelsens demokratiska utrymme och om hopp och handlingskraft.
