Next up in the Audio Series we present: Bloody Mary

Bloody Mary encompasses all aspects of an established electronic musician: she’s a producer, she performs live, she’s a vinyl DJ, and she’s been running the label Dame-Music since 2010.

The French-born, Berlin-based artist likes to be kept busy. When she’s not caught up running between airport gates, she’s usually locked away in her hardware-heavy studio, continuously mastering her art as a producer.

After relocating to Berlin in 2005, it wasn’t long before Bloody Mary’s career as a DJ was put on the international stage. Nowadays, her name is easily recognizable in the worldwide electronic music scene, having performed at festivals and clubs the world over as both a DJ and live act for more than 10 years.

In 2010, Bloody Mary started her own vinyl and digital imprint: Dame-Music. Celebrating its 10 year anniversary this year, to this day the label has had 44 releases (featuring artists like KiNK, Thomas P. Heckmann, Lady Starlight, Alien Rain, Hardfloor, and many more), and has hosted numerous label parties across Europe.

As a producer, Bloody Mary has released countless records on Dame-Music over the past 10 years. Since 2017, she decided to branch out further, releasing her music on Josh Wink’s Ovum Rec., DJ Pierre’s Afro Acid, and Tim Taylor’s legendary UK techno imprint, Missile. She regularly features as part of Amsterdam’s ADE, such as being hand-picked by Roland to talk about their illustrious 303, or being asked to produce and match music to an advertisement in front of a team of industry professionals as part of a Sync panel.

Fast forward to 2019: she was chosen to make an official remix of Phuture’s classic “Acid Tracks” which was widely acclaimed. She also launched her solo live act, making her debut in the infamous basement of Tresor Berlin.

Pandemic aside, in 2020 she has showed no signs of slowing down: a full collaboration EP with Cardopusher dropped in February, including a remix from Sarin. This is followed by a double vinyl release to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of Dame-Music, which includes tracks from label artists new and old, as well as some exclusives from special guests.

2020 also saw the release of her 10 minutes “Against The Clock” feature on FACT Magazine’s YouTube channel, which continues to receive outstanding feedback to this day.

Bloody Mary’s unique musical taste and elegant on-stage presence have seen her feature at festivals such as Movement Detroit, Piknic Electronik Australia and Barcelona, Intro Festival Mongolia, Epizode Vietnam, Rainbow Serpent, ADE, Sonar and WMC Miami. She has also graced the decks of world-renowned clubs like Fabric London, Space Ibiza, Panorama Bar Berlin, Smart Bar Chicago, Shelter Amsterdam, Tresor and many more.

Volume 03 of the Northern Groove Association Podcast comes from London based rising star PAIGE.

PAIGE made her entrance into the music industry co-running and curating event
and label, Night Service Records. Her approach to DJing draws influence from her dance-floor experiences and crossing club-focused genres frequently. Her energetic style often involves combining tribal infused tracks with groovier, harder techno sounds.

As well as recently curating a takeover on HÖR Berlin, following her debut late last year, she has also played regular shows on KINDRED radio, Rinse FM, Balamii, Munich based Radio 80k and Foundation Fm, as well as various other streams and events in clubs and venues including Fold, Tate Britain, Renate Berlin, Corsica Studios, Patterns, and Phonox.

We are thrilled to be welcoming PAIGE to make her debut for the Northern Groove Association at the DBA on 10/09/22 and based on this funky tribal infused mix, we can't wait to hear what she will unleash.

Alex Dolby has reached the coveted ground of over 15 years of releasing music and seen his high pedigree of creations landing on labels ranging from Global Underground, John Digweed’s Bedrock, to more recently Emmanuel’s ARTS, Developer’s Modularz and DJ Emerson’s Micro.fon amongst others.

Development and experimentation are the main influences in his sound as Alex has firmly settled on creating expressive techno. A deep love for analogue sounds, rough textures and tough rhythms are accompanied by dystopian aesthetics. A clear focus on functional club weaponry is wrapped up in his productions to pay homage to the dance floors he draws so much inspiration from.

Diversifying his legacy as a music connaisseur, Alex launched the respected Affekt Recordings in 2012 that has a catalogue of music from the likes of Pär Grindvik, Alex Bau, Mental Resonance, VSK, and MTD for example as he continues to enterprise and enlist new talent apace with established artists.

This label project also culminated in the emergence of Affekt Club that situated in his Italian home town of Frosinone, is a reflection of the labels output that inspires the clubs ethos of underground culture and musical standards.

Alex’s contemporary fourth studio album in 2018 “Fault System” has reinforced his noteriety as a leading light and much loved creative. Picking up heavyweight support from the likes of Laurent Garnier, Chris Liebing, Charlotte de Witte, Marcel Dettmann, Ben Sims, Jonas Kopp, Ø [Phase], Dax J, Truncate and Etapp Kyle to name only a few.

Added to this, one of his hit records from the 2006 album of the same name “Psiko Garden” recently received a remix in the first entry of the Classic Reworks vinyl series for Affekt from the unrelenting Manchester duo AnD (Electric Deluxe/CLR), bringing a much loved nostalgic gem into new territory.

The successes Alex has achieved have allowed him to travel around the world to play revered locations such as DC10 (Ibiza), Extrema Festival (Belgium), Bonusz Festival (Hungary), Griessmuhle (Berlin), Sazae (Osaka), Branceleone (Rome) or Cafè D’Anvers (Belgium) where he has shared his passionate and ardent sounds as he maintains an imperative grasp on the hearts and minds through the affirmation of his cherished contributions.

KAWAZAKI is a Berlin-based dj, born and raised in Leipzig where she got inspired early on by the city’s vibrant electronic music scene. Since she moved to Berlin, her love for music and its scene has predictably deepened. As a law student, she’s found her outlet and passion in DJ’ing, while progressively developing her own sound. More recently, she started her own podcast series KAWAZACAST. Her style mainly focuses on driving, groovy techno, and building up her sets with breakbeat, electro and house.
