Het origineel van dit lied werd geschreven door Daniel Boublil en gezongen door Catherine Lara. Het heet "La Craie dans l'Encrier" (heb ik ook gecovered). Liselore Gerritsen maakte hier een eigen tekst op en veranderde het arrangement. Later deed Herman van Veen hier nog een vereenvoudigend schepje bovenop. Ik heb met mijn arrangement geprobeerd het beste van alle werelden samen te brengen. Hope you like...

Interestingly enough, this big hit by "Van Dik Hout" from 1994 is in the same key (G#m) and almost the same tempo (100 vs. 104 BPM) as their popular track from 2022 "Op De Golven Dansen Wij", although they're 28 years apart! So they form a nice couple. Arrangement by Klppnbrgh in 2022.

Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)

One of the most tender songs by the Bard, Peter Hammill. I covered this once before, some 25 years ago as a birth present for my niece. This is another attempt: a 'live' recording, just one pass (with a few punch-ins), playing piano and singing and copying the piano miditrack to other instruments. Then I overdubbed just the melody. I believe this was somewhat how Peter did it, back in 1986, apart from the midi doubling.

Free Fallin'

"Willow Weep for Me" is a popular song composed in 1932 by Ann Ronell, who also wrote the lyrics.  One account of the inspiration for the song is that, during her time at Radcliffe College, Ronell "had been struck by the loveliness of the willow trees on campus, and this simple observation became the subject of an intricate song."
The song was rejected by publishers for several reasons. First, the song is dedicated to George Gershwin. A dedication to another writer was disapproved of at the time, so the first person presented with the song for publication, Saul Bornstein, passed it to Irving Berlin, who accepted it. Other reasons stated for its slow acceptance are that it was written by a woman and that its construction was unusually complex for a composition that was targeted at a commercial audience (i.e., radio broadcast, record sales and sheet music sales).

Er wordt vaak aangenomen dat dit gedicht is geïnspireerd door het apocriefe verhaal dat een jonge Jezus , vergezeld door Jozef van Arimathea , een tinhandelaar, naar het huidige Engeland reisde en Glastonbury bezocht tijdens zijn onbekende jaren. Volgens de Britse folklore-geleerde A.W. Smith was er echter "weinig reden om te geloven dat er vóór het begin van de twintigste eeuw een mondelinge traditie bestond over een bezoek van Jezus aan Groot-Brittannië". We find it's wonderful chord progression I iv ii V in many songs, and most work as a round when a few lines are taken. Those rounds then we can put together as a Quod Libet. The Pavamana Mantra (pavamāna meaning "being purified, strained", historically a name of Soma), also known as pavamāna abhyāroha (abhyāroha, lit. "ascending", being an Upanishadic technical term for "prayer") is an ancient Indian mantra introduced in the Bṛhadāraṇyaka Upaniṣad

BATH MANTRA
Pitr puruśebhyo namah rśi devebhyo namah.
Brahmárpanaḿ Brahmahavir Brahmágnao Brahmańáhutam.
Brahmaeva tena gantavyaḿ Brahmakarma samádhiná.(1)
Repeat the mantra together with the mudrá three times.
Remembering the rśis and ancestors in this way is known as Pitr Yajiṋa. Pitr Yajiṋa should be performed as a daily duty even if one’s father is alive.
The mudrá should be performed according to the illustrations ( please read charyacharya part --3 )
One must recite each portion of the mantra as shown by the illustrations. The arrows indicate the intended direction of movement of the hands to reach the next position. Remember that this is to be done at the end of the bath.
Sick persons who are sensitive to cold should take their bath in warm water and in an enclosed and covered place. Sun-warmed water is also good.(2) In extremely cold climatic conditions warm water should be used.(3) If you are not taking a dip bath you should bathe in a sitting position; it is desirable not to bathe standing.
Bathing at midnight is prohibited. One must not take a bath in the midnight sandhyá. Everyone must bathe in any one of the other three sandhyás. Taking into consideration one’s health and the climatic conditions, one may also bathe in one or both of the remaining two sandhyás.
