After dropping several tracks and performing at select festivals throughout the years, Ólafur Arnalds and Janus Rasmussen dedicated the year 2014 to explore the area in-between Ólafur’s more acoustic, piano-based solo work and Janus’s synth-heavy electro pop, with their collaborative electronic project Kiasmos.

By focusing solely on their self-titled debut album, Ólafur and Janus have been able to combine and further develop their unique sound aesthetics to complete an album driven by their mutual love for electronic music. Made in Ólafur’s newly build studio in Reykjavík, Iceland, a majority of the album was recorded using acoustic instruments next to a variety of synthesisers, drum machines and tape delays. It features a live drummer, string quartet and Ólafur performing on the grand piano, producing an ambient, textured sound, which makes it a perfect home listen and equally danceable record. If you listen closely, you can spot them record the thumb piano, finger snapping and even the sound of the metal grinder of a lighter slowly to replace the usual electronic hi-hat sounds, giving the album a far more intimate and unique atmosphere.

“We decided to start almost completely over with this record, so most of the material is written this year with the idea of making a record that can stand as one piece rather than a collection of songs. I am very excited to get a proper record out exploring a different territory than I am used to. I touch a lot on electronic genres in my own music but never have the opportunity to go full out electronic like we do here.” – Ólafur Arnalds

Earlier in 2018, Tokyo's Yunosuke Senoo aka Lycoriscoris released his genre-defying album ‘Flight’ via Anjunadeep. Ambient, emotive, and cinematic, ‘Flight’ is a bold showcase of skilled production and songwriting. 'Flight (Remixed)’ sees reinterpretations from German artists Grandbrothers and Ryan Davis.

Erol Sarp and Lukas Vogel of Grandbrothers have won plaudits from the likes of Dixon and Gilles Peterson, and drawn comparison to Steve Reich. They create all of their sounds with a grand piano, everything from melody to percussion. On this, their first ever remix, Erol and Lukas re-imagine the soulful progression of ‘Blue’, accentuating the ruminative piano score of the original.

Ryan Davis’ interpretation of Lycoriscoris’ Stella begins unassumingly soothing and reflective, only to give way to dissonant strings and a dark vibrating low-end that evoke the cinematic production of Hopkins and Moderat.

My second work for Robot´s label is a remix for one of his own 'Crystal Grid' 
I chopped, reversed and pitched the original samples glueing them together again as a 3 part cinematic mini composition. Starting with ambiences and subtle rhythms that  feel like you listen to your inner body while your journey goes further and turns your attention to  your near surroundings as the piano and beats get more defined. The third act is opening up an ocean of sounds filling your mind from every source of sound you can absorb till the wave of excitement coincides back to your inner self. 

The whole ep includes many more great takes on Robot´s music by Daniel Brandt, Chi Thanh and Jan Wagner and new material that hasnt made it onto his album.

After mesmerizing our listeners with his "Agartha" EP, Tomer returns with his lush Single 'OPT'.

During the last months he has been on a journey to create an eclectic modern cinematic techno piece with the emphasis on his signature, the Piano accompanied by a gentle cello.. Focusing on a warm sound and fragile elements around his main theme he is telling a 9 minute long story about hope and optimism while his music lives and breathes around you.

The name "Opt" is a shortcut for Optimism and is dedicated to the Israeli dance culture which is right now under heavy pressure of the Israeli police. His song is an expression of respect to all its protesters and supporters.

The remix, was done by his friend Dangur who fired an energetic debut with his last EP 'Black Fish' on our imprint. In his words he describes the process of remixing Opt as the following: "After i heard the Original track, which was so emotional and sounded to me like a movie soundtrack, i immediately felt that id like to create my own version. I contacted Tomer and was happy he accepted my request. I already had the idea to make it a bit faster and to twist the delay of the piano. My vision was to make it more clubby but still keeping the beauty of the Original, i hope i did achieve this."
