Monibi is a Berlin-based club deejay, radio host and music producer whose music is characterised by an interweaving of bass and leftfield house. Her club-centric, broken-beat, UK-bass debut EP 'Faux Pas' came out in 2019, followed by an electro-bass infused single in 2020 on the Cologne-based label and artist collective ‘baumusik’. A former Scottish resident who was raised in France, Monibi cut her teeth in Cologne, where she developed a reputation as a versatile and forward-thinking deejay. She has played at several stalwarts of the Cologne music scene such as Gewölbe, Studio 672 / Jaki, Stadgarten, Acephale, Golzheim, Mensch Meier, etc., and her music has been featured on the Cologne institution and techno label Kompakt's lineups, C/O Pop, CTM Vorspiel, Hör Berlin, WDR Cosmo and United We Stream x Arte. Monibi held a residency at Red Light Radio Amsterdam before moving to Berlin in 2020; she is currently a part of the THF Radio community where she co-curates the radio programme and hosts a monthly radio show called 'Etcetera w/ Monibi'.

Who's Rocco?
 
I started playing the piano when I was 7 years old, the guitar when I was 12. At 13 I bought my first techno vinyl record, and my first electric guitar at the age of 18. I played in a couple bands before forming the No Seduction (soundcloud.com/no-seduction) in 2004. We played all over Italy for many years, recorded two albums and two EPs, owned and then demolished a tour van, and eventually disbanded in 2016. The following year I moved to Berlin. I had an electronic solo project in mind, already owned a couple synths and a drum and started working on it. I met with Klub Ostkreuz and it was love at first sight, so I played my first solo act for the collective in 2018. Since then, things are constantly evolving, it is like a construction site. I would love to play the guitar and sing again, maybe I will be able to merge everything together in the future (no shit). For now, I am working on my first release and I am very happy with where this is going.

Klimaszewski aka 997 is a deejay, visual artist and dancer from Białystok, Poland.

His performances have been featured in venues like Klub Metro, FOMO, B.A Braga in Portugal, while his techno live acts have taken place in locations as varied as Bruit (Bogota, Colombia), Deepicnic podcast (UK), MWTG and PolishTechno.Logy (Poland), to name a few.

In techno, he focuses on the dynamics of the percussion layer, 'non-obvious' and hypnotising melodies as well as references to classic techno sounds. His role in "Powidok/Afterimage" is also notable, having been inspired by the qualities of body movement and dance rhythms.

"I'm a vinyl deejay, originally from Copenhagen, Denmark. I've been listening to techno since probably around 2009, but it was only 4 years ago that I finally bought a pair of turntables and started practising deejaying. 

My move to deejaying originated from my love of dancing; I've enjoyed dancing at clubs ever since I was old enough to get in and deejaying helps me understand the music on a deeper level. 

My primary influences include Berlin techno and the Berghain sound, but I try to explore the numerous sub-genres within that space, everything from deep and trippy, to banging grooves. One thing that really appeals to me in a deejay set is when it is driven by a sense of narrative – when there is a movement through different moods and atmospheres that seduces or enchants me and makes the music come to life."

‘Vinyl only’ is my motto when turning the tables.

I'm a techno deejay based in Nuremberg, Germany. Before I listened mainly to cold/dark wave, gothic, minimal electro and industrial music. A random visit to Berghain more than 10 years ago changed everything. At that moment, I fell in love with (underground) techno music!

Berlin's club scene influenced me strongly. It changed my style of techno music and inspired me in my art of deejaying. In 2016, I started deejaying and in 2019 played my first club gig, hosted by the local Nuremberg collective ‘LIBT - Let it be Techno’ where I'm currently one of their resident deejays.

This mix was recorded in my flat in Nuremberg using two Technics SL-1210MK7 and an Allen & Heath Xone 96 plus EvermixBox.

The idea behind the mix was to combine new tracks that kick me at the moment with some old classic tracks that still captivate me. The whole set runs at 140 bpm.

The Berlin-based duo Rafao is the result of an unlikely meeting in a forest in Poland, between the French deejay Camille Sanchez and Norwegian producer Kyrre Gjerstad. Connected through a common love of electronic music, they started collaborating in early 2020. Combining their diverse skill set, their creative process is free-flowing and ideas are swiftly captured and turned into a finished piece of music. This is reflected through the raw, energetic feeling of the finished result.

Their musical identity is as diverse as they are, and they are not afraid of mixing things up. From dark hard-hitting techno to bouncy house beats, they never restrict their creativity, but still manage to retain their own sound. Coming from varied musical backgrounds, they both bring their personalities into the music and the result is a unique, floor-filling sound that has depth and dimension in every beat.

For this 20th release in our KOXcast series, our very own Till aka Sog / Suction, a 'techno scientist' who has been a core member of Klub Ostkreuz since nearly its inception, will delight your ears with his amazing music. Sog has been an enthusiastic collector of vinyl for six years. Through the detours of rap, reggae and dub he finally discovered his love for techno! Deejaying for nearly four years now (vinyl-only), he is collecting records of all genres, such as classical music, jazz, blues etc.
 
Sog: 
“For this mix I dug deep into my record collection. Since the planned b2b sessions could not take place in the end, I still wanted to try something special and slightly different for the new KOXcast.
 
Techno has a wide range of styles and is often represented through the archetypical four-to-the-floor beat. Nonetheless, especially in the early opening hours of a Klubnacht or during the late closing hours, deejays have the chance to guide the audience through a deeper journey and through different spectrums of machine music.
 
I picked records and B-sides that usually do not make their way into my record bag for a set. Ranging from drone and ambient, without a clearly noticeable rhythm, to slow, bass-heavy tracks at 75 bpm, breakbeat techno, 4x4 beats and fast-paced drum and bassy grooves to punchy gabba relentlessness at 175 bpm, this set tries to give each style and track the space that it needs to be processed. While it keeps the dancefloor in mind, it also tries to deliver a diversity that makes it interesting enough to make it a listening experience for a conscious home-listening session.
 
I hope you can find all that in the mix and are open to hearing a far weirder side of techno, which makes this music develop further and in more interesting ways, both musically and rhythmically.”

KOXcast 020 | Passion is the Friction between your Soul and the Outside World | Sog

A young generation of electronic music producers is rapidly growing in the capital of Slovenia – Ljubljana. Rising onto the scene is dvidevat, who started her music exploration in the electronic scene only a year ago. She primarily plays in the local Klub K4, and this year she was also invited to play at the second edition of Butik Festival, alongside with artists such as Etapp Kyle, Jensen Interceptor, Nite Fleit, Terence Fixmer, SPFDJ and others. A few weeks ago she also released her first track on the local record label Kamizdat on the Netlabel Day compilation called 'Access Frame: Equality'. Although creating and composing different kinds of genre is a part of her zest since the age of 5, she never thought that analog and modular instruments would significantly change the way she perceives the electronic scene alongside with its output - music. She says: “It is complex as nothing else I have ever seen or heard, maybe because it is all so neatly connected with mathematics. As I am producing now, I somehow have to find the simplest way every time I want to express my ideas through the knobs and patches, and the best of all is, I get to choose and design my own sound with the most authentic approach there is or maybe ever was in music production.” 

Her deejay sets shift between oldschool driving, upbeat electro and some of the new techno genres that connect the raw elements of percussion with the outer spacey melodies. Still in search of her own unique way of mixing and infiltrating different forms and styles into the mix coherently, today she delivers a straightforward mix, that is inspired from sets of the Detroit techno and electro fathers.

Originally hailing from the lush, tropical paradise of Niedersachsen, Niko's steadfast support for our collective and his amazing music have really seen the collective through some of its best times. Niko is also one of the world’s first deejays to have integrated South Indian pop songs into a deejay set, namely KOX's anthem ‘It’s my life’, earning him our eternal admiration and respect.
