I have generally spent my entire career giving people compelling narratives for their misery. So in keeping with tradition, the bookends of this mix are things I have either played on, recorded, or spent endless days in the general proximity of the artists, and all are old friends. Sandwiched in between I suppose is the smoky cheese? Not sure what all of it means, as making mix tapes is something I have done since I was a wee lad, and every tape is reverential and has an emotional connection to it.

''Born in New York, Adam Bryanbaum Wiltzie grew up fixated on a career in professional tennis, and was brought up under the wings of 1963 Wimbledon champion Chuck McKinley. A tragic knee injury ended his career at the young age of sixteen.

After receiving a tip from an old friend, and a ride from Santa Fe New Mexico, Adam ventured to Austin, Texas where he lived in a cloud of fog for 10 years, until moving to Europe and finding a better quality of life. Adam is probably best known for his work as founder of seminal musical projects Stars of the Lid and A Winged Victory for the Sullen. Wiltzie has written the original scores for several film and television productions including Salero, The Yellow Birds and Iris. He also collaborated with previous EE contributor Jóhann Jóhannsson on his scores for The Theory of Everything and Arrival, and wrote two of the main themes with Dustin O'Halloran in the 2016 Oscar-nominated film Lion.''

Adam is set to score 'The Burning Woman', http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4465572/ a film directed by Jake Scott and starring Christina Hendricks, Sienna Miller. The soundtrack will be released later next year. 

Stars of the Lid will return to play Sigur Ros-curated festival 'Norður og niður' on December 30th in Reykjavik, Iceland.

Having shared edit duties on Universal Cave’s 10th release, Philadelphia duo Superprince take the reins solo for UC011 with four slices of Philly rework heat.
From the soulful Caribbean funk of ‘Mama’ to the syupy, slo-mo boogie of ‘Rose’, the A side is a sublime double header of slow jams to kick off the EP.
On the B side, Superprince picks up the pace with delicious, private press disco for the dancefloor in the form of ‘Come To Me’, before the dubbed-out balearic bliss of ‘Buy You A Dream’ closes out the affair with a chuggier and cheekier high note.

With the world in Covid-19 lockdown and the events industry stopped in its tracks, artists and online media like ourselves have been left financially vulnerable and, well...pretty bored. In an effort to alleviate both, Stamp The Wax launches Isolation Therapy, an emergency compilation built from scratch at lightning speed. 

We reached out to a bunch of friends who may need a hand, and gave them three days to make a track from scratch in isolation. 27 artists rose to the challenge and within a week from our first reach outs we were ready to go with masters (s/o Adam Scrimshire) and artwork (s/o Jess Ebsworth)⁣⁣. Final s/o to Aly Gilani for helping pull it all together. 

To provide artists with financial support as quickly as possible, royalty splits have been increased and accounting periods have been reduced to fortnightly during Coronavirus restrictions. Isolation Therapy will also provides much-needed funds for STW, having been hit heavily by the collapse of the events industry and postponement of all our media partnerships. If you can afford to buy the album, even if you don't like every track, it will be a massive support for independent journalism and go a long way to help us fight through this lockdown.⁣⁣

Label boss Marco unearthed Lyon based, Brazilian born @pedro-b-2 during lockdown. Impressed by the young and talented artist's fresh perspective, he snapped him up for three tracks that bring a new and different kind of energy and elements of breaks, house, afro and baile funk that are all designed to make you dance in different and unexpected ways.

Opener 'Abre Caminhos' has tropical sounding percussion and wild jungle noises, bird calls and crashing hits all making for a steamy and shapeshifting tune unlike any other. 'Racine' then masterfully layers up scuffed and shuffling kicks with off-grid percussive rolls and ethnic vocal chants. It's a tribal tune with a humid vibe and killer old school bassline. 'Sai Sacanagem' closes out with a darker, more textured bassline and electro feel that is finished with paranoid vocals and proto-house grooves.

This is weird and wonderful music that fuses organic and synthetic sounds into brave new forms.
