It took a long time to get this one done and we really had to wait a while for this drop. But it’s finally here and it blows our minds and souls.

KALAKUTA SOUL RECORDS come with a series of releases and new gems that surely will keep this year quite busy. After Al Kent’s killer joint that went by the title „Love & Care“, it’s Cuttlefish & Asparagus who once again deliver a strong three tracker made to work the hell out of every imaginable sound system. 

Mainly known for their unforgettable work on Black Sun’s self-titled epic track, Atlantis’ Cuttlefish & Asparagus deliver an A side that couldn’t work any hip harder. With a sound spectrum wider than the panama canal Hang On In There is guaranteed to turn any straight cut jeans into glossy orange bell bottoms and any mirror into a disco ball. 

On the B side Cuttlefish & Asparagus work out one of the most essential soul joints that always made you wonder why songs couldn’t play forever. Meticulously edited without changing the filth of the unique bassline, Loving You is a wild stomper made to immediately fill or blast any imaginable dance floor. 

And to adequatly close this drop, Drum Song transports the deep spirit of the crew behind KALAKUTA SOUL RECORDS who’s always after music they love to dance their asses off to. A Tropical bliss.

Dear friends and family - The crew at the house of KM Editions / Pleasure Wave are pleased to present to you, their brand new release, catalogue number PW04. Amsterdam based Chris Taylor, the mind behind Aan Zee may not be a familiar name to some, but his unique sound, we hope, will become something you will return to time and time again. 

Channelling the choicest ingredients from the galaxies of left-field Disco, library nuggets, lo-fi Afrobeat jams and beyond 'Persona / Funny berber' & 'Vacation' are strange beasts. Aimed squarely at the dance-floor but not obvious, blatant or cheap these deep sound excursions will tweak the more esoterically minded into action. The fact that Taylor is a multi-instrumentalist is evident, the sheer sonic tapestry that spreads across both cuts will engulf the ear-drums of the adventurous and stimulate the most intrepid of feet. These cuts are not easy to pin down or pigeon-hole, they are long-form exercises in interstellar dance music that is truly on the cosmic threshold. Following on from previous outings courtesy of Skatebård, Kito Jempere, Miskotom, Les Crocodiles & more, Pleasure Wave is the perfect home for the free-spirited and adventurous Aan Zee project, kindred spirits you might say. Be sure not to miss this limited vinyl-only release by Barcelona's disco crew Apersonal Music. Three old classics get revisited by the main artists of the label, Robbie Ellington's "Don't Cry" gets the disco treatment by specialist venezuelian crate-digger Trujillo, the "Shaft" theme song is turned into a dance-floor killer by Portuguese duo Cisco Cisco, and on the flip side KMA takes "Storm" from Rare Silk to a new level by adding live played instruments and 303 acid loops.

"The next release on Periodica Records sees the label reaching outside of its familiar roster to present the equatorial groove excursions of Parbleu. ‘Danse Cette Zik’ is the debut LP from this enigmatic group of musicians and is a multi-cultural fever dream, wherein energized expanses of dynamic disco, futuristic funk, and cinematic jazz fusion are colored over by warming vibes of Caribbean dub, Latin tropicalia, and sunshine Afrobeat. Evocative instrumentals intertwine with breathtaking vocal performances, which move between sleepy-eyed soul serenades, mystical melodic chants, and expressive diva enchantments while pads swell in support—sometimes sparkling like ocean glass, other times raining down like a Morricone symphony. Pianos and guitars converse via funk flourishes, reggae riffs, and jazz rock solos as blazing fusion synthesizers set the air aflame. When he's not locked away arranging disco edits or writing original material, you can find Joey performing on the weird and wonderful side of Bali's nightlife, soundtracking the sunset and beyond as resident DJ at Potato Head Beach Club, 40 Thieves Club, and Karma Beach.
