The Summer season is ripe for The Interns as they return with the third installment of The Interns Present mixtape series, this time reviving the signature soul that pushed their debut tape to over 50,000 plays in it’s 8 month tenure online. It’s the sound that’s come to define their live sets as they’ve rocked pool parties at The Standard DTLA and Hotel Figueroa, respectively, post Spring solstice in 2015. 

With a slot at EDC Las Vegas 2015 now in the books, and a handful of gigs up and down the California coastline, things are just starting to heat up for the boys and they’re not showing any signs of letting up! 

As for ‘Wet Hot Los Angeles Summer’ you can hear the influence of many late nights on the dance floor and long days in the festival circuit. The mix is really an homage to the sounds that inspire them to get up and dance combined with the cult classic movie set to make its return later this year. It’s perfect for those looking for a spicy afternoon soundtrack or some late night fun as it offers some insight to the non-Angeleno’s on how to get after it, Southern California style.

Heretic is the side project of Timothy Clerkin, one half of London techno / house / disco duo, Eskimo Twins.
Having spent the last 5 years collaborating and DJ’ing all over Europe, the time has come to put some solo material out under the Heretic name. The output will be slightly rougher and noisier than previous Eskimo Twins releases, drawing inspiration from childhood heroes such as My Bloody Valentine & Aphex Twin, whilst maintaining a focus on the dance floor.
Heretic began life as a frivolous means of making some raucous club tracks, with themes about science and the refutation of all things religious running through them; hence the name. This quickly evolved into a fully-fledged side project as the pile of tracks kept getting higher and higher.
First release Geodesic EP, on Days of Being Wild, garnered the attentions of Erol Alkan, Chloe & Andrew Weatherall with the follow ups on Abode, Relish & Nein Records pushing his sound even further. Plus a whole host of remixes for techno legends past and future.

Jon K was a hidden treasure in the Manchester scene for many years. A DJ with a fine reputation amongst those who had seen him play, he has rightfully risen to prominence in the last couple of years off some key sets and mixes, including his notorious FACT mix of the year 2013. Part of his well informed record collection no doubt comes from the fact he has long been involved with the Fat City record store, and he has also had a residency at Hoya: Hoya alongside the likes of Illum Sphere and Lone. 

He is someone who always impress no matter what he is playing, and that can be anything from doom to spaced out echo-disco, hip hop to raw Chicago drum tracks. With a widescreen taste and plenty of skills to showcase it in coherent ways, he is real master of his art which is shown in his newest podcast. Jon K: “The starting point for the mix, which clocked in a lot longer than I'd planned, was a few records I picked up last time I was in Amsterdam. Next to that there's a load of forthcoming bits on there as well as a few records I've not played for donkeys years. That's actually one of the things I love about doing mixes - they make you go back through your collection & appreciate stuff in a different way.”

Stepping up to the prestigious Ransom Note mix series we have one of our favourite Scandinavian Disc Jockeys, Skatebård. The Norwegian electronic music scene seems to be awash with talent these days between the likes of the Sex Tags crew, Todd Terje, Bjorn Torske, Prins Thomas, Telephones, Röyksopp and the Full Pupp crew. There is certainly a distinct sound now running downstream from a country which wasn't previously known for its reputation in the world of Electronic music. Skatebård has been releasing music for the last fifteen years. His sound is a blend of Italo, House, Electro, Disco and beyond.
