Te Akaraupō is an album created by Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu in 2002 which is aimed at tamariki and their whānau to enhance the cultural base of the iwi. This album contains creative songs for our tamariki. Te Akaraupō is literally the raupō roots, an important plant amongst our people. It fed, sheltered and transported us across Te Waipounamu. It is a very simple plant that can do wondrous things. These songs are the same; simple and wondrous. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

This fourth edition of the Te Hā series, Ka Korokī Te Manu, speaks of the dawn chorus of birds. Some of the waiata and haka included are repeats from previous albums and others are newer compositions which sing to a younger generation. We also herald a wonderful chorus of waiata dating back to the 1940s. Ka Korokī Te Manu contains plenty for us all to enjoy and learn. Nō reira – e tau taku manu e tau
