Transition: original soundtrack for video piece by Maria-Magdalena Ianchis. It was nominated for the European Month of Photography Arendt 2021and will be shown at EMOPLUX (Luxenbourg) and IMAGO LISBOA (Lisbon) in 2021and FOTO WIEN 2022.

Teem: composition for a contemporary dance piece without meter spanning roughly 45 minutes. the sound design is anchored in ideas brought by the dancers and executed through live sound-processing and playback of prerecorded- and produced elements. the sound of the dancers was collected with a shotgun center mic, two L/R pairs and two contact microphones. it was processed using ableton live and routed through seven speakers and one subwoofer. (Dancers: Amanda Líf Fritzdóttir, Anna Guðrún Tómasdóttir, Bjartey Elín Hauksdóttir, Júlía Hrafnsdóttir, Júlía Kolbrún Sigurðardóttir, Karitas Lotta Tulinius, Mathilde Mensink, Sanna Josefiina Hirvone)

somtimes i get carried away: a piece for personalised AI voice - contemplating the crypto art market & spectacles, social media and political interests.

Skerpla: a sound piece created with a field recording as a score. each impact corresponds to a transient.

23.07.19  - Ida Schuften Juhl, Hilde Wollenstein, Guðmundur Arnalds: a collaborated live improvisation recorded in Mengi, Reykjavik, and released by the independent label Agalma.

The Leap: a collaboration between Ida Schuften Juhl and Anne Keil for voice and electronics. it contains phrases from Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater in Bb and Händel’s Dixit Dominus Tactum Principium. the piece reflects on the intimidating moment it is, physically and mentally, to approach a big leap. in this context when a singer encounters a great tonal leap. the piece slowly builds up while stumbling, halting and contemplating. voices search for their place among the noises, dissonant notes explore the tension and timelessness that grow out of anticipation.

non-events: sound is an event. the ear picks up the information and analyses it. in a recording, the sound that catches our attention is often intentional sound events such as instruments being played or someone banging on a metal plate. but this short piece focuses on the non-events in between sound events in a handful of personal field recordings.

hot and bothrd (depression talking)

The solo project Knackered is characterised by genre-defying, playful and engaging electronic music that draws inspiration from UK rave music, post-club, left-field and 00’s hip-hop/rnb. It's gained traction through 2024, landing gigs such as Björk's Full Moon series at Smekkleysa, Iceland's biggest rave Smekkbuxur, and a tour in Poland. 
Knackered is currently finalising a release.

Ida Schuften Juhl (1994) is an Iceland based composer, performer, and sound artist. Ida has put out multiple releases and demonstrated a diverse skillset that counts a/v installations, composing for short-film and contemporary dance, live electronic music performance and sound engineering.
 She’s been an active member of the d.i.t (do it together) arts collective Post-Dreifing since 2018, and taken part in building the new media arts collective Rask from 2019-2021. 
In the spring of 2022 she graduated from Iceland University of the Arts with a BA in new media composition.
