Knarsetand has been working on a big remix project: Knarsetand Remixt. After the eight Remix we released we're proud to announce the final four! Remixes Knarsetand did originating from: My Baby, Vato Gonzalez, Black Sun Empire and Splendid. We're happy to announce a remix from the song "Seeing Red" by our festival colleagues: "My Baby"! This trio combines shamanistic voodoo sounds with entrancing psychedelic blues. Which has now been turned into a voodooistic Dubstep Remix.


Martijn about working on the Remix:
"The first version i made was actually a reggae one, adding some chords and a bassline. But that wasn't the direction this remix had to go. So i picked up an old dubstep project (which had the basssounds of the remix) and started playing with the tempo and pitch to make it all fit. The trick for me was to keep it dark and entrancing but also dancable and with a bit deep bass. It's actually maybe more trap than dubstep.. hmm... but whatever, we're not really the strictest on genres are we?

Knarsetand' smashed the reset button and is back with a new raw sound, new band, energy like never before and one message: Welcome to the Mad House. The band's seven musicians deliver a thunderous sound full of breakbeat, electronica and garagepunk, infused with balkan, and cumbia. Like in a lucid nightmare, Knarsetand drags their listeners through the halls of their insane asylum, past rooms full of intense, raw, unruly, and hypnotizing impressions. With sharp lyrics, psychedelic soundscapes, tempting brass, fierce guitar riffs, aggressive synths, entrancing beats and heavy basslines, the Knarsetand-machine transforms every place they go into a pit of fuming energy.

Knarsetand performed over 100 times in two years with its previous formation. From the small studio of the biggest radio station in The Netherlands, to main stages on large festivals. After the sunny days of festivals, Martijn Holtslag, who’s the composer, producer, and bandleader, crawled back into the darkness of his studio, and membrane. Disillusioned from the notion of a malleable world, disappointed in demagogic politicians, sleepless nights, a broken heart, a depression, litres of escapism, and a good dose of reality checks made Holtslag give a musical outlet to the anxious, itching, and grating feeling of agitation in his stomach. Besides writing the music, Martijn felt the urge to make his lyrics more personal and perform them live as a vocalist. A type of therapy. Tempered to spread his rebellious madness and escapism, a new band got together, to revive Knarsetand and fight the delusions of daily life.

KNARS has been playing a lot in the last few years, leaving every place they went, with no exception, as a moshpitted, muddy area. While playing gigs, producer and Frontman Martijn Holtslag experimented with their latest single's “Cant get a Hold of Myself” raw material. And inspired by dub legends like Prince Fatty, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry and Mad Professor, made a full Dub remix. Which then also got implemented in their live show. Which then kickstarted the idea to turn remixing the song into a remix project.

The coming few months, 5 new remixes in a completely different style will be released. KNARS got Remix assistance from producer Madcore to do a Future Bass remix, Lifecycle to work on a filthy Neuro Drum and bass remix and the crew from Sound Unbound to make some dusty alterations.
