Following ‘The Future is the Past’, last year’s widely popular contribution to DGTL’s ‘Various Artists – Volume Two’ compilation, Amsterdam’s Colyn (@colynmusic) now sets his own EP for release on the Amsterdam-based imprint. Entitled ‘Martian’, the diverse 3-tracker is another distinctive step in the exciting young talent’s status as an artist firmly on the ascent. Martian is set to release on September 3 with pre-orders available on August 26.

That ascent has come at a breakneck pace. Even with the hits, international nightlife took from the pandemic, Colyn never missed a beat. His emotive sound is comfortably familiar yet mesmerizingly distinct. Its textures, stutters, and synths occupy a unique space between house and techno. This signature sound has already featured on the likes of Afterlife and Rose Avenue, as well as on several well-received remixes (including for the likes of Joris Voorn). Colyn’s ‘Resolve EP’ on Tale of Us’ Afterlife in 2019 was an instant hit and continues to be a go-to release on the hugely popular imprint.

Martian kicks off with its eponymous track. An Italo-inspired groover, the track features soft, vocoded vocals from Colyn himself. Open for interpretation but concrete enough for all to find meaning, the track ponders one of the deepest of life’s questions: Are we alone?
Then, ‘Pursuit of Happiness’ acts as the natural progression from ‘The Future is the Past‘ – a feel-good anthem and bonafide crowd-pleaser, set to imminently ignite dancefloors the world over. ‘Martian’ concludes with the introspective pandemic produced and inspired ‘Programmed for Empathy’.

The artwork for ‘Martian’ continues DGTL’s commitment to supporting local and independent visual artists. This time, Coloray takes the reigns with his distinctive take on three-dimensional world-building. With ‘Martian’, the multi-disciplinary Dutch artist Coloray and DGTL proudly kick off the first of several unique curations.

Label honcho AFFKT bring us the first stone in the path, like in the previous releases for Sincopat he dives into his own sound to break rules and deliver once again music full of personality. The energetic ‘We are safe’ opens the pack with a mixture of styles, retro futuristic cosmic sound coming from the deep space. For the remix, And.Id presents a minimal slice of deep-tech, playing with the notes of the bass and taking it to different sounds. The ironic ‘Therapy’ has a rolling groove with tiny notes of melody perfectly adopted, and remember the power is in your mind. Satori makes a fantastic introduction in his remix, building then a trip to another space of melodies and voices. The track travels through different layers of piano and keyboards, landing finally in a warm and deep floor. Once Again Sincopat search in the past but always looking into the future.

'The 9th release of Infinite Depth will be in the name of the Italian producer Recode. Three well shaped originals accompanied by two great remixes by respectively the Italian Alberth and Dutch newcomers Convolute.

'Irreale' is the title track of the EP. It's a track with a catchy melody and interesting arrangement of percussion. It brings a lot of groove with in between the groove lingering breaks, creating impressive moments.

In the remix by Alberth, he replaced the groove for a more atmospheric techno approach. With his typical deep and immersive sound, he managed to create a very suitable remix, which is perfectly in line with the original track.

The third track is called 'Artefatto'. In this track Recode took his groove to an even higher level by letting the percussion and bass communicate in a unique way.

'Sospiro' could be seen as the most optimistic track of the EP. A beautiful melody, which floats fluently through the track, is connected with a matching lead, which are shaping a dazzling ambiance together. 

The remix of 'Sospiro' by Convolute could be seen as driving version of the original track. They took the main idea of the original and surrounded it by some more progressive sounds. To keep the emotion they managed to add a touching synth, which gives the EP a powerful end.'

It’s always great news when Steve Bug and Langenberg get together in the studio - two legends who remain at the top of their game, locking into each other’s groove and delivering some of the most potent electronic music out there. 
Their latest excursion is a case in point. 'Emphasizer' is a mid-paced groover with thick, rounded kicks, sharp percussion and a rich, deep bass that keeps things rolling along. Sparking synths add the spacy melodic flourish. 
'Thierry Moogler' is a slightly more urgent affair that builds from a slowly evolving synth riff before unfolding into a glorious, chugging house groover with an epically worked drop.
