''Explanation is a typical Christian Smith techno tune. I used an analog synth sequence as the main hook, and added a powerful groove and break to the track. Been tested many times and always delivers. Subzero is a very vintage inspired track. It’s rather slow at 120bpm, so that I could give lots of space for the powerful bass line and the TB303 acid line. What I like about this track is that its old school yet futuristic at the same time and works really well on the floor.’’ – Christian Smith

For the 27th JEUDI issue let’s welcome back one of the label headhonchos Doctor Dru. The “Savannah” EP is uniting his past as a drummer and his feel for hooky, layered arpeggios in a perfect manner. Dru’s tracks are always welcomed sureshots on the foor. His last contribution “The Pattern” stirred up the summer in Ibiza in 2015 and was played to death by major league artists like Solomun or Nic Fanciulli. This year his infamous remixes of D-nox & Beckers “Serenade” on JEUDI , Nico Stojans “BLUE HOUR” and Sailor &I’s “Letters” stirred up the festivals and foors around the world. We are sure this release will fnd his way in the playlist of many DJs as well.

The “Savannah” leads you in the wide of the african steppe merging multi layered arpish melodies into one fne percussion driven hypnotizing tune. Of course with never missing the hands up moment.

“Praerie” is featuring a little darker atmosphere but not less percussion driven. You’ll fnd Dru’s signature drone with trancy melody interjections. But the breakdown is what made the tracks name. Inspired by the west coast synth melodies of the late 70’s it comes suprisingly and with just the right power to make the crowd freak out.

Having been a regular behind the decks since it opened and having released his stunning Live in Brooklyn (BEDNYCCD01B) mix album over 2 years ago, John has always had a real connection and love for this space. When it was announced the club was closing, and having been asked to play the very last set there, he put my heart and soul into that final party, carefully selecting and programming many of his favourite tracks to create an unforgettable experience.

Dirk Puchta aka Marbod took the pictures of the Lichtenberg cover. His mix is finishing in a fine tradition. It is whirring in not too far distance.
