Falling Into Life third release on our label, including a remix by label owner Nykkyo Energy DJ. These songs have been part of Falling Into Life and Nykkyo for about 1,5 years. A huge process of personal and professional growth with deep realizations and grateful letting go. This is a journey, a journey of letting go of what does not fit anymore. May it be unfulfilled desires, fears, struggles with yourself or others, it is time to embrace the past and fly into a new being and future, where you can be as you are. 

The original track is an acoustic journey finding freedom, long guitar solos with twinkling soundscapes, gentle beats and vocal song by Falling Into Life himself. The remix is an uptempo progressive house track yet still catching the main elements of the original while on a dance journey with a total different energy and atmosphere.

Falling Into Life his story “I learned so many things about life and about myself. Can I really love myself without the reflection and mirror from the other? Can I really feel love? Apparently I was so freaking co-dependent. That I needed validation from somebody else. Can I really let go? The lyrics in the song are still a mantra today. It showed me that I tend to connect with pain not with love. If someone is in pain, I can take care of them. So they see me and give me a reason to exist. Why do I give all this energy away to someone else? Why am I not able to give all this love and energy to myself? And now I see, and sometimes still feel, that the universe gave me a lesson in focus. A lesson where I am not free. After the break-up, my focus came back to me. And I used the situation as a catalyst. I pulled myself away from the world and stepped inside my own universe again. Music started flowing like never before. As the creator that I am, I sat with my guitar fiddling around and gave expression to the loss I felt. At that time, I sent a lot of my musical ideas to some Ecstatic Dance DJ’s because I had a dream: One day I will bring my music to the Ecstatic Dance floor, and so I met Nykkyo, and we started giving live performances together. At that time, he was in a situation where he also had to let go of some stuff. I can’t really remember, but he told me that I almost wanted to delete the song. Finish it, he said," and I will make a remix. For me, Butterfly also stands for growth and transformation. For letting go. Being free. Grateful on my way…”

Falling Into Life and Nykkyo Energy DJ are performing live together at Ecstatic Dances, performing a live hybrid set with original productions accompanied by live instruments and are available for bookings.

Still riding high off the success of their last album but never ones to sit still, titanic techno duo Octave One are back with a hot new single. Featuring their long time collaborator Ann Saunderson on vocals and coming with three different mixes, ‘Just Don’t Speak’ it is sure to be a summer anthem.

Detroit’s Octave One are one of the most revered and hard working live acts in all of dance music, and have been since the late eighties.  As well as being devoted to cooking up scintillating shows on the fly, they also keep busy in the studio, serving up the sort of high grade and impactful records that keep DJs and dancers happy. ‘Just Don't Speak’ has already received repeated support from Pete Tong on Radio 1, who played the world exclusive on his show, so is a truly bonafide bomb.

The track features their long time collaborator (British singer/songwriter), Ann Saunderson who also collaborated with Octave One on their massive dance anthem ‘Blackwater’ (released in 2002) and has worked with a list of who's who, in the dance music arena.

Also featured on ‘Just Don't Speak’ are the Urban Soul Orchestra (USO) who also collaborated on‘Blackwater’, adding a unique twist to the track with their contemporary string ensemble. As a versatile string ensemble, USO have worked at the top of the UK music industry for 20 year, specialising in recording sessions for top artists, major corporate events and exclusive private parties. Violinist, conductor, orchestrator and arranger Stephen Hussey founded the USO, arranging and recording strings for pop artists. Oasis invited USO to perform at their second album launch for (What's The Story) Morning Glory? with an offer to play at Mariah Carey’s Christmas party following shortly after. Since then USO have been delighting audiences at exclusive events all around the world and have worked with artists such as; Mick Jagger, Madonna  Kylie  Grace Jones, Jay Z, Groove Armada, Nitin Sawhney and many more.

‘Just Don’t Speak’ is a barrelling house cut with subtle but joyous piano chords rolling above fat bass. Ann’s vocals are typically elastic and emotive and love fuelled. They soar as the pressure below builds and are sure to leave crowds in raptures. An instrumental version places even more focus on the uplifting and driving groove, and a dub version strips things back to the infectious percussion and bold drum lines, making for a more macho and physical cut.

A radio edit is also included in the package and ensures that all bases are covered in great style by the ever essential Burden brothers.

Adam Marshall has long being an artist admired by the Maeve label. From featuring in early carnations of Mano Le Tough & The Drifter’s Passion Beat parties to producing tracks like “North at Night” and “Vamping”, Adam has always been an artist, all three of the Maeve founders were eager to work with. 

Over the course of the last 12 months and through much back and forth, a four track package finally emerged that all parties now feel very proud to release into the world. “Low Poly Nature EP” features several guises of underground electronic music and in parts pushes their boundaries. 

“Core Dub”, is a slick, quick, classic Canadian techno track. Tinged with nostalgia, the layered pianos and galloping beats make for a super A1 and great start to the record. “House Shipping (Jammed Mix)” is slightly more subdued, living up to its title, this beautiful meandering house tune feels like a dreamy jam and makes up the A2 of the release. 

On the flip “Illusions of House” kicks things off, an off kilter jarring melody provides the basis for what initially feels a bit confusing but eventually graduates into quite the banger thanks to some well chosen percussion and excellent arranging. “Epsic Basic Drops”, rounds off the release and in many ways encapsulates the spirit of the whole record. This track again feels like a raw jam lifted straight from a studio session and in its beauty and madness leaves the listener a little puzzled as to how it should be defined.

Second Woman is the collaborative project featuring Turk Dietrich of Belong and Joshua Eustis of Telefon Tel Aviv.

Josh and Turk have been friends for over 17 years, having met in New Orleans in the late ’90s through mutual friend and future collaborator, Charlie Cooper. The duo have been working on music together on and off since that time.

The concept of Second Woman began with the idea of taking tropes from footwork, dub, house, and techno, and twisting these ideas into something kaleidoscopically liberated from the grid.
Their work first materialized with two LP’s and an EP on John Elliott and Peter Rehberg’s Spectrum Spools.

Second Woman tweak the perception of time and space within the audio field into something ASMR-inducing and ultimately satisfying to listen to. Both Josh and Turk experience ASMR in response to certain rhythms and sounds, and effort was made to incorporate these triggers into the music, hopefully for other people to experience as well.

With Instant / Apart, Second Woman present their complete signature sound as well as a new, more measured dimension to their work.
