Tekno Ballet

CROATIA IN DUB is a multidisciplinary project that blends traditional Croatian vocal music with contemporary electronic music reinterpretations.

The reinterpretation of the folk songs helps to share them in a new context and bridge the gap between folk traditions and modern electronic music.

Developed by italian producer and multi-instrumentalist Lo.Renzo the project features the Zagreb-based vocal ensemble Čipkice.

The documentary, filmed by Camera Obscura (Zagreb) tells the story of the project and how is possible to move from cultural appropriation to cultural appreciation, watch the teaser: youtu.be/xnT40H7nu1k

Bones and Roots — the ritual of birth
The day came when the forest made a circle — roots and bones braided like hands. The fire hissed, herbs smoked, and elder spirits hummed the song that would pull her from the soil. Baba Yaga emerged in pain and wonder: a silhouette of twigs and muscle, skin slick with moss. Her first breath tasted of resin and ash. Embraced by roots and summoned by bones, she received a name she would still have to forge with her deeds.
