I know I say that all these releases are very exciting quite often, but this one is legitimately VERY exciting. Arguably one of the biggest and best tracks of 1992, the track that put the legendary Jonny L on the map, the one and only Hurt You So, is getting the remaster/remix treatment courtesy of us, your friends at Kniteforce Records. 

While I have opted to make this a single playlist, this will actually be two releases, one with the original '92 mixes, and one with remixes from Phuture Assassins, Dope Ammo and (absolute legend) Ed Solo, and the long sought after Bootleg Mix. 

And before you ask, no, I can't tell you who did it. I legitimately don't actually know. SOMEONE does, they just didn't bother telling me lol. 

KF153 - Jonny L - Hurt You So, and KF154 - Jonny L - Hurt You So (Remixes) will be available October 1st, 2021 through http://kniteforcerevolution.com. Whether or not they'll be bundled is still TBD, but we wanted to give this release a looooooong promotional window so that everyone knew it was coming, where to get it, and when.

1. Tell us about upcoming gigs you have:

 I'm excited to bring some bassline/160 vibes on the 16th of August at The Glove That Fits in London with the Skippin' Rope Records crew. I got to see these guys playing for the first time a while ago and I still remember how incredibly fun that night was! I'm very gassed for what's coming. I also had the pleasure and opportunity to play in Amsterdam and Berlin a few months back with Singularity UK & N4 Records which were both such lovely and unforgettable experiences! Nothing in the books for now, but I will embrace the quietness to focus more on vinyl mixing.

2. What do you think is the worst song you’ve ever heard? 

Million-dollar question this one! hahaha I'm not sure anymore if there is an actual song I hate. I think it's just easier for me to focus on what I like without really caring or focusing on what I dislike. The world is full of hate we don't need to contaminate music too, good vibes only!

Gears & Rust is the story of a transformation — both sonically and spiritually. The debut album from Leeds-based producer and songwriter S.O.B.A starts in serenity and ends in fire, guiding listeners through a journey of clarity, conflict, and catharsis.

The first half breathes with liquid drum & bass textures, soft harmonies, mellow rap verses, and atmospheric storytelling. Tracks like “Old Pine Woods” and “Southern Moon” feel like morning mist and memory — warm, reflective, and rooted in nature and nostalgia. Here, the lyrics float between moments of love, recovery, and inner peace, woven through vinyl crackle, field recordings, and emotive melodies.

But as the album progresses, the tone shifts. “Babylon Tricks” signals a pivot: the drums hit harder, the message grows sharper, and S.O.B.A’s pen turns militant. From there, Gears & Rust descends into the rave — fusing jump-up chaos, dubstep growls, and layered wordplay that explores addiction, resistance, ambition, and rage. Tracks like “WorkRate” and “Melter Mode” are aggressive and raw — rave weapons with hidden messages coded in rhyme, distorted basslines, and second-drop switch-ups designed to shock and awaken.

By the time the title track “Gears & Rust” lands, the contrast is clear: this album isn’t just about sound — it’s about survival. The gears keep turning, even when the body feels rusted. The soul fights on, even when scarred.

From dusk-lit riversides to smoke-filled basements, Gears & Rust is a sonic diary of a man rebuilding himself — one beat, one bar, one breath at a time.
