Junodownload Review: As part of Knotweed's ten-year celebrations, Echologist aka Brendon Moeller delivers a dynamic dub techno workout. "Knot Safe" revolves around mesmerising chords that swirl and sway over a stepping, metallic rhythm, while on "Dub Knot", Moeller goes into a more abstract direction, with glitchy percussion underpinning warped samples and reverberating effects. "Knot Twist" sees the veteran producer push farther in this experimental direction, as brooding tones and muffled vocals conjure up a hypnotic soundscape, while on "Double Knot", he makes a return of sorts to the dance floor, as doubled up beats and a broken rhythm support layer upon layer of hypnotic tones.

Junododownload review: Robert Kavanagh aka Mode_1 serves up his fourth release on Knotweed with an inspired EP that is sure to appeal to Detroit techno lovers. Coming across like a more club-focused version of Terrence Dixon, these four tracks are punctuated by eerie textures and stripped back yet insistent rhythms. "Unheard" features chiming bells and a rolling groove, while "Reactor" sees Mode_1 drop a more hypnotic take on this approach, with tight, nagging percussion supporting waves of discordant sound. On "Missing Cable", the sound is deeper, as layered sounds unravel over a bubbling backing, while as its title suggests, "Cascade" features the sound of water trickling over a pared back but insistent rhythm.

"The ever-prolific Brendon Moeller returns with a third EP for Knotweed under his Echologist alias, treading the line between glitchy minimal, propulsive techno and dubwise immersion with flair and poise. There are some powerful, deeply submerged kicks to be enjoyed on 'Activation', but they're not just deployed as standard. On 'Concentrate' they might be more prominent, but still there's a sense of confident restraint in which Moeller can create captivating energy and a full-frequency experience without resorting to obvious tactics. For those who favour something a little more stimulating and subtle from their techno experience, this EP has everything you need."

Juno Review: Knotweed welcomes back a label regular in A Thousand Details here and he once again delves deep into groovy machine funk. His high-impact sound is always intense but is never short on style. 'Hammersmith Conjunction' is up first and races out of the blocks on some surging, serene and Detroit-style techno. 'Ashbourne Grove' is a more heads-down affair for the dark of the night with paranoid synth patterns looping tightly over the cantering drums. 'Colorious' ups the ante with bristling percussive loops and 'Pimlico Astor' shuts down with some edginess that will keep you on your toes.

Juno Records review: Ecilo is an Indonesian producer who now becomes part of the Knotweed family. As already shown with EPs on the likes of Patent and Voyager, he's got a direct style that is all about supple, seductive rhythm. 'Border Jupiter' is just that with Millsian synth ripples layering endlessly. 'Purging The Evil' gets more feisty and caustic in its texture and the kicks have a more dark and foreboding energy. 'Gravitational Drift' is back to racing along with sheet metal synths peeling of automated kick drum funk and 'Brain Fracture' shuts down with wall-rattling.

The work of label owner Philippe Petit, it states that humanity is witnessing 'a meltdown' and that we will be left to deal with the aftermath. By way of a soundtrack, there's the knotted, acid-heavy "Causes", while the title track is a heads-down, relentless affair that just keeps on building. Thankfully though, it's not all bad news; closing track "Consequences" offers some solace. Despite cruises along at 130bpm, its layered, building chords and scatter gun percussion create a euphoric Detroit-style finale to this socially aware EP.

Zreik previously released with music on Knotweed with his studio partner as Dying & Barakat, but he flies solo for this EP on sister imprint Decision Making Theory. Musically it's not a huge leap, with many of the nuances and aesthetic of Knotweed writ large here. "Inner Space" is a high-paced Detroit techno affair, led by rattling, steely percussion and populated by a mysterious synth line. On "Reason to Believe", Zreik travels down a more foreboding path, with its minimal growl and a complex, steely rhythm that sounds similar to the darker side of Terrence Dixon's material - who is also a Knotweed artist. On "In My Mind", he reverts to a deeper approach but on this occasion, the rhythm is more dense and the electronic riffs rise hypnotically through the arrangement.
