Ground Up - "Hold Me Down" (feat. Action Bronson) (prod. Bij Lincs) 2012

This is a track that Mikey put out on 4/20 last year (April 20, 2012). The Cookin Soul-produced track features a smooth sample of Michael Franks' "St. Elmo's Fire," which was on his 1975 album "The Art Of Tea." I've heard a few other tracks with this sample, including Smoke DZA's "Crazy Glue" (feat. Supaman, Big Sant) (prod. Big KRIT) and Fabolous' "We Get High" (prod. C Sick) too, but I was feeling Mikey's today. Definitely don't hesitate to peep the two I just mentioned though. Mikey's Banco EP coming soon.

This track is off Kendrick's mixtape, "O.Verly D.Edicated," which was released September 15, 2010. I know a lot of people didn't catch the wave until his 2012 album, "Good Kid, M.A.A.D City," but Kendrick has been releasing quality music for a minute now. I'm look forward to hearing to collaborative work with J.Cole, which they're unfortunately refusing to give a date for. Guy Harrison - "Crushed Ice" (prod. MiGGZ) 2011

From Eminem’s debut album “Infinite,” which was released March 12, 1996. With little money and promotion, the young rapper released this album out of the trunk of his car. The album was a flop though. Em sold just around 1,000 copies and, at the same time, worked to generate accusations that he was biting off of Nas and AZ. Furthermore, the failure of the album had a significant impact on both Em’s career and his personal life; he contemplated suicide because of it. 
While today, the few people who have listened to it give it more respect than it initially received, Em’s debut is hardly ever held in the same esteem as his first two commercial albums. This to me is upsetting. From a lyrical standpoint, I truly believe that Infinite is just as good as (if not better than) any of his commercial work. True hip hop fans who appreciate raw lyricism need to check it out. "Infinite" is an excellent and criminally underrated debut that gives the listener a different perspective on Marshall Mathers.

A track off Larry Fisherman's mixtape, "S.H.O.W.time (Super High Off Wax Time)," which was released April 20, 2013. Larry Fisherman, for those who didn't know, is Mac Miller's producing alias. I've never been a fan of Mac's rapping, but I'm definitely a fan of Larry's work on this instrumental. This track features a trippy bass-pounding beat, with some dope flows from the KushedGod and Black Hippy's Ab-Soul. I haven't listened to the work in its entirety yet, but if any other tracks catch my eye, I'll post them in the coming days. Ground Up - "Day Like This" 2009

This is a track from Eddie B's entirely Harry Fraud-produced mixtape, "Horsepower," which was released April 8, 2013. 

To be honest, I had not heard of Eddie B before I stumbled upon this work a few days ago. However, a feature from Bronsonelli will always catch my attention, as will production from Harry Fraud. So, with those two names in front of me, I decided to download the mixtape and give it a listen.. This is a decision that I wouldn't come to regret.
Let me start by saying that, in my opinion, Eddie B's flow and lyricism (as demonstrated on this mixtape) are nothing to write home about; nothing special. I don't mean to say that he's bad at rapping, he's just not amazing at it. However, while I'm not overly-impressed with the rapping here, I'm blown away by the production from Harry Fraud on his third collaborative project. From start to finish, Fraud brings you nothing but quality instrumentals, and works to make this tape worth your time.
In case you weren't aware, Action Bronson and Harry Fraud are also hoping to release their project, entitled "Saab Stories," before the end of the month (April 2013). I think it's safe to say that, after hearing Action do his thing on this track, we have a lot to look forward to from that collaboration.

Lupe Fiasco - "Don't Get It Twisted" (prod. Wildstyle) 2006

Once upon a time (February 2011), The Cool Kids linked up with Freddie Gibbs and King Chip (then known as Chip Tha Ripper) to bring you 2 dope tracks; this track is one of them. After teaming up for this track, and previously for Freddie Gibbs' "Oil Money" (a track you should definitely peep), the artists hinted at plans to work together in the future as a supergroup called Pulled Over By The Cops. Like many hip-hop supergroups though, this one was short-lived. Furthermore, and if I'm not mistaken, we haven't seen collaborative work from the artists since.. Oh well, at least we got 2.
Probably no need to remind folks, but, for those late to the party, Mikey (Sir Michael Rocks, previously of The Cool Kids) is planning to release the "Banco EP" this June (2013), and Chuck (Chuck Inglish, previously of The Cool Kids) has the "Convertibles EP" on the way as well. 
I don't listen to Freddie Gibbs or Chip on the regular, so I have no clue about the latest on them. Sorry.. but not really. Chuck's upcoming EP is a work that I'm really excited for, even though it's about half a year delayed. In terms of his rapping abilities, Chuck is talented. But in terms of his producing abilities, Chuck is especially talented. The laid-back, Midwest styles of this Cool Kid are something that deserve your attention. Chuck has the ability to blend simple drum and bass into an instrumental that'll get your head nodding. He's been doing his thing for minute too, in terms of both rapping and producing.
