Wow. The Headless Chickens' didn't so much cover this as rearrange it(in 1993). The rearrangement sounded like The Cure's "Fascination Street".

Very excited to share this with you! For the 30th anniversary of Blue Lines, I came up with this chronological comprehensive deep dive into all things sample era Massive Attack. Starting with the beginnings as Wild Bunch in 1986/1987, early and later remixes and solo records of collaborators and supporters, this mix goes into recreating the albums “Blue Lines”, “Protection” and “Mezzanine” using the original samples, instrumentals, interpolations, remixes and b-sides. This was done live on April 11th on my Mixcloud and Twitch channels (now slightly reworked and remastered for the Soundcloud archive) using only vinyl records, two turntables, a Pioneer 909 Mixer and a microphone. Electric Aotearoa: Electro records from New Zealand (1983-87)

'The Inside Track' is side two of a 7" single recorded in February and July 1984 in Auckland, New Zealand, by Stridulators, who were Chris Burt (drums, synthesiser, vocals)and Steve Roach (guitar, keyboards, vocals). Side one was 'Queue'.

Of note: the main tracks for both sides of the single were recorded on stereo cassette tape before overdubs were added on a four-track reel-to-reel recorder.

The single was released that year on the duo's own House of Squirm label (HOS 245).

Last night I went out for a beer with a friend who grew up in the Bay area. We got on to the subject of chicano oldies. B-side, often rare, soul ballads to bump in your lowrider.

It got me thinking back to a point in my life in 2012 when I came across an article about the Californian Oldie scene in the forever incredible Wax Poetics Magazine. Everything about it fascinated me. I was on tour a lot at the time, and living in Berlin with some of my greatest friends Alastair, and his  brother, Ben Damage. 

Having just flown in from somewhere in the East, and heading out the following day for the start of a US tour, I left the magazine open on Alastair's desk. By the time I was in Heathrow waiting my connecting flight, my inbox started getting flooded with youtube links. It was the start of a 1 year wormhole that we went down scanning everything we could get our hands on. It became the soundtrack to life, with mass singalong's hanging out of windows. they became classics amongst our friends.

We put this mix together of all our favourite, lesser known cuts. It's in two parts because we planned on putting it on a cassette. but we are in 2017 and we still havent. And the sun is blazing here in Paris. So I thought maybe its time to share. 

I genuinely think some of these are the greatest tracks ever made. I hope that its sunny where you are, and that you can crack a drink and cool out to this!
