As a master of disguise, he finds endless ways into the lives of man, with evil intent as the main gate and seemingly harmlessness as the backdoor. The percussive impact of a lone T-REX’s talons echoed down the street with reptilian confidence, an emotion shared and augmented by the pompous mannerisms of the man who rode astride it. The beast’s monstrous nature forced friend and enemy alike to take reverent notice of his very presence, and the man quite enjoyed being the center of attention as his mount lumbered through the jagged alleyways that had long been his home. Lost amidst his own grandeur, his mind wandered to thoughts of childhood bullies, business rivals, and others of an unappreciable ilk. They, he smugly thought, did not have the latest model of theropod mount. His, by contrast, was magnificent as it fed upon the occasional stray or frightened bird and left a smattering of spattered crimson in his wake.

As a science, genomic revival had been actualized for almost as long as the man himself had been alive. He had for so long dreamed of this day, having watched in envy as the folk of the upper city rode upon perfect biological chimera that answered to their every whim. Though the costs associated with the creation of such creatures had decreased significantly, such prestigious beasts as his own T-REX still lay well beyond the income of a mere android repairman like himself. Thus it was that as he had happened upon the body of his current mount clinging to life atop a local scrap heap, he had rushed to its aid and imbued its body with every piece of spare artificial biology at his disposal. Now, as the cybernetic augmentations to his beast’s ruddy hide shone lustrous in the sun, the man reclined pridefully into his saddle as he uttered a silent prayer in the hopes that his hacked together diet inhibitor would continue to keep himself off of his new mount’s menu.

MIDNIGHT CVLT returns to EATBRAIN with T-REX, a five track EP that sees one of EATBRAIN’s most recent additions unleash a furious follow-up to 2023’s “Bloodfire” EP on the label. Marked by the menacing sonic character so alluded to by his moniker, the five tracks within T-REX are sure to induct a fresh batch of souls into the EATBRAIN horde under the sway of MIDNIGHT CVLT’s undeniable influence.

Blackout Podcast 60 - Telekinesis

This is the mix i did for Abducted Records Best Drum and Bass Podcast. I over recorded the submission so i thought why not upload the full mix if anyone wanted to hear the rest. Huge thank you to Best Drum & Bass! Bad Syntax is one of the hardest working in America for D&B and was a pleasure to showcase this mix. As most of you might know Renegade Hardware has released their Final Chapter Lp so I decided to make a mix mostly of the NEUROWARE part as well as a dub from myself and 1 other release I put out with my good friend, The Voss. Funk To The Podcast 001 - Mixed by Myselor

Trendkill are undeniably on a roll, having rocketed into 2019 with some of their most resounding tracks to date. They’re maintaining this trend with a brand new, double-sided single from Opsen. Led by Prolix, Trendkill has showed their ability to pull through a wide selection of heavyweight production standards from a drum & bass world which is currently at its largest ever population. However, Trendkill are still delivering an array of artists who are just beginning to establish themselves against the scene’s founding producers. But Opsen has already been a recognisable force throughout the wider trenches and his forthcoming single shows this. As one part of the French collaborative Signs project, Opsen demonstrated his creative might, something which the following tracks ‘Redwood Falls’ and ‘Lumberjack’ continues as a solo venture.

Opsen’s ‘Redwood Falls’ is your first insight into what you can expect from this new endeavour and it’s an intimidating one. Brick by sonic brick the track begins to build and before long you’re introduced to a titanic wall of sound, one which breaks suddenly, throwing you down its chaotic first drop. Soon comes the record’s well-honed grooves and it’s the type which sit neatly beneath a punchy composition. Each drum roll claps into the next, with the track developing powerfully as you’re taken through every sixteen bars of noise. Opsen is relentless, something which will is immediately clear on first listen. 

The flipside is ‘Lumberjack’, which draws The Clamps into Opsen’s levels. This is a return to Trendkill for The Clamps and it’s one which will see fans excited by its announcement. Both artists demonstrate the same standards of engineering and the track is a merging of two formidable creators. ‘Lumberjack’ pushes the same crushing drive, with shaking subs and moodily distorted LFOs manufacturing its driving motion. Opsen and The Clamps work hand in hand to deliver this next slab of carnage and it’s just one of many releases to come from Trendkill this year. Under the guise of Prolix, the imprint has risen in strength, something which is evident through its stream of releases throughout 2019 and its meteoric rise.

Opsen - Redwood Falls [Trendkill Records] OUT NOW

Formally known through his part in the French trio SIGNS, since going his own direction Opsen has become a defining figure in his own right. After catching the attention of labels who are pivotal forces of the drum & bass genre, including Eatbrain, C4C and Noisia’s DIVISION Recordings, he makes a return to Trendkill through his solo alias. Alongside several outputs with Burr Oak (his collaboration project with The Clamps), he’s proven his standards are second to none, with a record on Trendkill which is already intimidating for even the most well- known names. His work in both the sound design and sample industry is certainly apparent through the quality of his engineering; he’s a producer’s producer who continues to make music which translates to the dancefloor. His forthcoming release on Trendkill demonstrates this fact.

The ‘Block Cypher’ EP from Opsen is an embodiment of what Trendkill represents; that’s high-powered drum & bass with a refined technically which makes it the perfect club orientated music. And it’s no surprise that Prolix stands at the helm, known for always drawing for these types of sounds throughout his DJ sets. The EP starts with ‘Block Cypher’, a track which locks into its launchpad before setting off on top of growing bass stabs and soaring keys of synthesis. And before long you’re pulled up with its first cataclysmic, drum-orientated breakdown.

Following next on the track list is ‘Crazy Boar’, rolling through like a wild animal and snapping through its crazed drum sequences. Distorted bass patches add to the track’s creature-like tendencies and its impact ricochets throughout. ‘Defiance’ finishes the EP and its steppy first build has a loudness which expands through its encompassing atmospherics, before a hectic switch takes you deep into the record’s core. Opsen puts forward his driving dancefloor influences for this track, which perfectly rounds the EP off and gives it an extra flare of creativity.

Opsen draws to a close another release on Trendkill and highlights again why he’s now a staple of its roster.
