A box of documents. A dead professor. A clay tablet that makes your hands feel wrong when you touch it. And a thread that connects an artist's nightmare in New England to a police raid in a Louisiana swamp to a sailor's encounter with something at the bottom of the Pacific that the human mind was not designed to survive seeing.

I Can Hear It Breathing is a 15-track dark phonk concept album that retells H.P. Lovecraft's The Call of Cthulhu through the voices of the men who touched the truth and didn't survive the touching. A nephew piecing together his dead uncle's research. An artist carving a dream that half the world shared on the same night. A cop who raided a cult and never slept right again. A sailor who rammed his ship into the face of a god and watched the face reform behind him. And the god itself — patient, indifferent, and sleeping on a schedule that doesn't include us.

The music is dark Memphis phonk — dusty drums, lo-fi horror, bass that sounds like something moving underneath the floor. Every track gets heavier as the picture gets clearer and the picture is this: underneath everything we've built, something sleeps. It has always been there. It is not our devil and it is not our god. It is something we don't have a word for. And it is dreaming. And in the dream, we are smaller than we ever wanted to know.

The album ends with a man alone in a room with a box he can't close and an ocean he can't stop listening to. And if you listen closely — past the drums, past the bass, past the lo-fi crackle — you can hear it too.

It's breathing.
