William Gibson's uncannily prophetic novel Neuromancer was the 1st in a set collectively known as The Sprawl. The same term also refers to a fictional Megatropolis covering the entire Eastern US seaboard in the books, and was also the title of a staggering, standout track on Mumdance's pivotal Take Time EP.

The Sprawl is now also a noun for Logos, Mumdance and Shapednoise's new collaborative trio))), which was first conceived at Berlin's CTM15 festival, and now makes their recorded debut with EP1 of a rolling series to be archived by The Death of Rave.   

Inspired by Gibson's notions of uploaded consciousness in a post-human society, and the way in which the sensory-scrambling effects of technology have played out across our collective reverie, EP1 ventures four cuts of retina-scorching dis-torsion and chrome-burning modular synth work attempting to emulate the physical and mental impact of SimStim overload and fractious hyperreality.

Head first, Drowning In Binary rinses us thru a maze of recursive techno chambers and convulsive noise, acclimatising us to the temporal displacement in preparation for the retching, body-quake detonations and finely-contoured synthetic sensuality of From Wetware to Software to take hold. 

On the other side, their references become more explicit, and violently dynamic, as the gutted late '90s tech-step structures of Haptic Feedback glance in the direction of classic Prototype and Reinforced Recordings, before Personality Upload steadily dismantles your mental firewalls with a gyroscopic sense of weightless delirium.

Ultimately, EP1's mostly beat-less dynamics lends it to polysemous reading; at once comparable with elements of La Peste's late '90s french flashcore or the unquantised designs of FIS, and likewise, it's applicable as both 'floor-shocking DJ tools, or as a prop in your own, private sci-fi fantasy.

Italian scifi producer and sound designer Oisel joins the Warm Up family with this extended EP, offering four cuts in the physical version and 7 in the digital release, this is almost an album that sowcases the great studio skills of this young talent, with tracks of diverse approach ranging from direct exercises to more mental and layered,

First cut Labirinto, starts with microbleeps and noises when suddendly the massive kick and sequence appears, this main synth line is followed by more percussive elements while synthetic details move in the back.

Paradosso uses more resonant tones in a complex arrangement, a precise work on the stereo field, dynamic drum programming, digital congas and bleeps.

Eteronoma is spacey and weird, arpeggiated sounds, outerworldly noises, traditional 909 hats, obsession and tension.

Sisma closes the vinyl edition. This is a drum based tool, liquid, elastic and straightforward ideal to be used as tool.

In the digital domain we offer three extra tracks, Teros is the first, calmed, alien bleepy tones expertly arranged and with an amazing sound design work. Sat 04 is a miinimalistic tool made of filtered percussive elements and synthetic details going in and out. Closing the release, Apnea reminds us the best spacey techno creators with the random sinoidal sequence, the shuffled hats and the mini textures moving along the stereo field.

After moving to Berlin in 2014, Amotik has been steadily building a base in the city that significantly inspired him. Having developed a unique style of atmospheric techno with a relentless raw undertone, his consistency as both a DJ and producer has seen him perform at some of the most exciting clubs and festivals around the globe. Amotik delivered his first full-length double vinyl LP on his Amotik label earlier in 2019 which will be accompanied by a debut live tour to end the year. The album features 10 tracks with elements of ambient, broken beats, textured soundscapes but has its foundations firmly rooted in techno and invites remixes from heavyweights Ellen Alien, Anthony Linell and Tensal.

Presiding over Stockholm's Northern Electronics label with Varg, Anthony Linell aka Adbullah Rashim dispenses a deep, hypnotic approach which can be heard on releases on Northern Electronics, Semantica Records and Abdulla Rashim Records. Anthony’s remix of ‘Chautis’ deploys his meditative production style to great effect through shimmering low end, glistening synths and alleviating elements.

Spanish producer Tensal who has over fifty releases on labels such as Polegroup, Modularz, Mord, Falling Ethics, Arcing Seas, Kynant, Float, Ownlife, Soma, Attic, Propaganda and his own Tensal Records imprint, gears his remix of ‘Paintis’ towards a modern, raw sounding number through crunchy oscillations, thudding kick drums and obscure yet brain-tickling atmospheres.
Berlin’s Ellen Allien has been at the forefront of the techno scene for many years adopting a style that sees her blend and weave between mesmerising Berlin techno, acid, freak jack slammers and classics which can be heard on her BPitch Control imprint, as well as her remix of ‘Tetails’ which adopts sharp rhythms, entrancing leads, dramatic yet euphoric leads filled with nostalgia to round off this remix package with majestic style.
