billain is still a god but his work today doesn't quite compare to tracks like this. imo nowadays he shoves too much in the song w/o considering its composition. tracks like this kind of exemplify what I miss about billain; overproduced, ridiculously technical, yet amazing to listen to and most importantly, doesn't give you a headache

After months spent amidst the depths of the wilds since their passage beneath a great relic of The Dark Age, Scruggs and Sonny Jim stood once more before an object of inscrutable origin, a monolith engraved with the runic language of a long-lost culture. Puzzled, and with a bare amount of literacy available between them, their wizened trigger fingers traced the engraved markings upon the stone as the pair engaged in a once-in-a-lifetime attempt at scholarship.

“I ain't got one lick of an idea ‘bout what we’re looking at”

“Yup” was Scruggs’ sole reply as his finger drew towards the end of a particular sentence inscribed upon the monolith’s surface, though he knew it not as such. Then, with a sound the pair would later describe to their fellows around the campfire as “a flash flood and a twig snapping at the same time”, the pair vanished from the space before the monolith.

When they reappeared, the vision before their eyes was unlike any they had ever encountered before. The pair were astounded to find that they seemed to stand upon the very clouds amidst an endless void of darkness inlaid with millions of tiny points of light. Before this minuscule moment of comprehension had ended, the pair were once more bemused by the fact that they seemed to have fallen back to Earth in an instant, landing in an altogether different world than they had ever known. Lying amidst a labyrinth of pyramids graded by steep stone steps, the pair’s vision was overtaken by a brilliant flash of light that preceded the emergence of a plantoid being wrapped in vine, stem, and leaf woven together in mimicry of the human form. Though possessing only the semblance of a mouth, the voice of the SUPREME ENTITY echoed like thunder off of the hard surfaces of the pyramids that surrounded them, imparting a terrifying warning through their ears and directly into the core of their minds.

“Lower beings, the BURR OAK will take over this world. There are no limits. You will be mine, forever."

BURR OAK return to EATBRAIN with their latest single, SUPREME ENTITY, which comes as the first sample of the duo’s forthcoming debut album. The result of their long journey through the wildest of sonic realms, SUPREME ENTITY, and the album for which it stands as the harbinger are set to transform the sonic world of the EATBRAIN horde in the coming months as BURR OAK reveal the path to their sonic home.

Mayhem and I are back! Well to be honest we never really stopped working together, more like we hit pause. We've just been working on other projects separately lately but definitely have way more tunes in the works that will see the light of day at some point. Much time had passed since that first moment of DIVERGENCE, in which one had sacrificed the joys of his existence for the betterment of all. Where once a man had stood, now a great tree remained, presiding over the village with the commanding presence of its incredible size. For years the magic of its boughs had shielded those below from harm, but time had worn upon its trunk and the wards that it projected now threatened to falter at the onslaught of the spirits that had long thrown themselves at the border. A single life, it seemed, could not keep evil at bay for all eternity. This fact was known to the council of the village below, and as the great tree began to slip from the world, they set in motion a further plan.

In the depths of one of the great mountains that surrounded the village, its every inhabitant worked tirelessly, hewing and hauling the stone bones of the earth out from the grand chamber they were constructing. At its center, the village’s most skilled artisans worked diligently, inscribing the face of a great obelisk with runes and symbols in a language known to none of them. Night and day the village toiled, until at the final strike of a pickaxe they heard a most ominous sound. A pained groan uttered its way through the valley, followed by the thunderous impact of what could only be the felling of the great tree. The villagers cowered within the cavern, watching in horror as the spirits of evil began to flit about the ceiling above them. Yet as all seemed lost each spirit that had entered the chamber was wrenched downwards, its essence bound to the great obelisk, which trapped their visages in caricatures of agony upon its surface. Though the flood of spirits seemed unending, each and every one soon found itself within a similar stone prison as the dissonant howls of these creatures of evil faded into nothingness within its earthly being. At this sight, the village rejoiced whilst remembering the one who had sacrificed much for them. Though life could not hold back the flood of DIVERGENCE, stone would bind it to its inescapable form.

EATBRAIN their ninth LP with the second release in their DIVERGENCE series, featuring 16 tracks from the many sonic leaders of the label’s vast horde. Within is presented EATBRAIN’s full sonic scope, which spans the breadth of the neurofunk spectrum with tracks from JOE FORD, AGRESSOR BUNX, MIZO, FOURWARD & more - as well as sonic sequences from a variety of rising artists within the genre.
