The first release of the Portuguese Label Kokölò comes from the no-face-entity that is Rave Child, the label's creator.
“To move forward” is the meaning of the word Kokolo (without any accents), in an ancient African dialect, and this motto is exactly the ethos of the label. Not focusing on a single genre of music, but on a mood... or a state of free spirit.
With "The Birth EP" Rave Child is literally being born. It is the beginning of a project in which the artist shows his understanding of rave music - with all its naivety and euphoria - while trying to catch the feeling of a soul discovering the dance floor for the first time.
The three tracks of the EP are connected by a substantial use of breaks, chopped voices and dreamy melodies, while each of them uniquely displays the nostalgia we all feel towards the innocence of our childhood years. Moments of play, immersion and presence that are filled with an inherent wish of utopian infinity.
This is also shown in the artwork of a must-watch young illustrator named David Duarte.

Portuguese label Kokölò returns as Rave Child delivers his ‘The Calling’ EP, backed by a remix from .VRIL.
Founded last year, Portuguese label Kokölò made an immediate impact with its debut release from anonymous artist and label founder Rave Child, gaining support from the likes of Laurent Garnier, Sasha, .Vril, Patrice Baumel and Nathan Micay. Up next, the label turned to another member of its collective as label event programmer Alfonsvs made his first outing on the imprint, with his "Bad Habits EP", backed by a remix by the Berghain resident Answer Code Request, gaining more international attention, with Inverted Audio, MNMT and Delayed, all writing about the release.
On this new EP, the opener and title track ‘The Calling’ is a hopeful-sounding techno trip, combining a 303-infused bassline and otherworldly pad sounds. Next, .VRIL's remix brings the artist's signature touch of loopy distorted textures, letting Rave Child's pad shine with class. The B-side of the record starts with "Good Vibrations", a distorted Shed-like burner made for peak time hours, sampling Loleatta Holloway with a modern touch. The record wraps up with "812", a 135 bpm deep burner, melting down distorted drums and rhythmic stabs with two melancholic piano notes.
The EP, mastered by Conor Dalton at Calyx Mastering Studios, features artwork from young illustrator David Duarte - with the design showing maturity in this new step for the label: their first vinyl release.

Rave Child Unmasked: Alfonsvs Reveals New EP “I Got U”

After a series of releases that captured the attention of top tier DJs and producers, such as Peggy Gou, Laurent Garnier, Daniel Avery, and Âme, to name a few, the mysterious Rave Child steps into the spotlight. Behind the name responsible for three standout EPs on the Porto-based label Kokölò is Alfonsvs, who now unveils Rave Child as his freshest alias project.

On the early days of 2025, Alfonsvs contributed to the VA compilation of the renowned Portuguese techno label Elberec, further expanding his reach. Now, he returns under the Rave Child moniker for Kokölò’s first release of 2025: “I Got U,” a three-track EP accompanied by a remix by acclaimed Mexican duo Zombies in Miami.

The title track, “I Got U,” sets the tone with a dreamy yet unrestrained energy. The 140 BPM groove is layered with organ sequences, acoustic percussion, and atmospheric pads, creating a playful and nostalgic composition.
“Dub 3720” takes a more robust approach, incorporating driving drums and a resonant bassline. The interplay of rhythm and melody is amplified by the introduction of a lead synth that elevates the track’s momentum.
Zombies in Miami bring their signature latino touch to the remix of “Dub 3720.” A fast-paced groove blends with piano-House chords and vocal textures, delivering a reinterpretation with distinct rhythmic vitality, which the duo creatively named “Latino Dream Remix”.
The EP concludes with “Higher Power”, a in-your-face track characterized by distorted percussion, a French house-inspired synth line, and an euphoric vocal sample. This track pays homage to the classic sounds of the late ’90s while maintaining a contemporary edge.

The release features artwork by David Duarte, whose design reflects themes of connection and unity. The imagery explores the forces that bring individuals together in moments of shared experience, aligning with the EP’s musical narrative.

“I Got U” by Rave Child will be available on Kokölò in March 2025.

Founded earlier this year, Portuguese label Kokölò made an immediate impact with its debut release(that we had the pleasure of premiering) from anonymous artist and label founder Rave Child, gaining support from the likes of Laurent Garnier,.VRIL, Patrice Baümel, and Nathan Micay. Up next, the label turns to another member of its collective as label event programmer Alfonsvs makes his first outing on the imprint. Returning after a brief hiatus, allowing time to find and refocus his sound, he delivers his first EP since 2017’s ‘44th Romance’ as he showcases his musical influences and unveils two powerful originals via his ‘Bad Habits’ EP - accompanied by a warping remix from Berghain resident Answer Code Request.

‘Physical Education’ is a powerful techno voyage that combines dubby stabs, icy hats, and punchy drums to crescendo towards a euphoric ‘hands-in-the-air’ moment.

PREMIERE: Alfonsvs - Physical Education [Kokölò]

Upcoming on Kokölò Records is the Bad Habits EP from Alfonsvs, who is returning to his production duties, and we are happy to host the premiere of the opening title track from the release. Set on an energetic temperament on steadily pumping percussion patterns, Alfonsvs brings forth a sense-uplifting piece for late-night dancefloor experiences. A warm composition forms gradually through hypnotic dives along clean and deep passageways, further relying on helical sub-distortions that, eventually, achieve a mind and body participation balance. Unconsciously yet heavily engaging us to its rhythm, this track penetrates through waves of stimulating echoes on our not-so-frail desire for motion expression.

Monument Premieres the track "Bad Habits" from the release, which will be out on the 28th of October.

This is a recording of Alfonsvs 3h slot at the Wintergarten floor of Sisyphos on a very warm summer evening, right after a great set by Hisham Zahran and just before Adriana Ruas destroyed the floor.  
The sun was shining through the windows and the dancefloor was filling up nicely during the first half of the set. On the second half of the set, the dancefloor was packed with beautiful dancers in this cosy room, where the Dj plays between two sets of stairs with people dancing both in front of the booth but also in the balcony above and behind the booth and on the stairs going up to the balcony, giving it a real 360º feel. 
The sound was warm, and the people were screaming during bigger breaks and even when the needle skipped the record at one time. CRAZY!!!
