Rent Boy

Two banks of old school hip hop breaks programmed for the TR-505 (on Bank D and E). I did my best to interpret the feel with the limited sound palette and velocity levels of this charming machine. Because of these limitations, some came out sounding more accurate than others.
Note: In order to get the correct 16th note resolution, I had to split up a few breaks between different patterns, and use a doubled tempo. They are: Amen, Apache, Wild Thing, & Funky Cool Medina.

Warning: This will erase all the existing patterns in the TR-505's memory, so you may want to back up your patterns before doing this!  A. Hook the audio output of your computer to the TAPE IN on the rear of the TR-505.
B. consult the manual for instructions on how to get the drum machine in the mode to accept an audio data dump.
C. Play the data all the way through.

TR-505 Classic Break Pattern Data(LOUD!)

Warning: This procedure will erase any custom patches you have on your JX3P and replace them with the factory ones.

1. Connect computer’s headphone output to “Tape Memory Load” jack on JX3P.
2. Make sure JX3P sequencer is not running.
3. Set the Memory Protect switch on back of JX3P to “Programmer.”
4. Press “Tape Memory” button on JX3P (button will light up).
5. Play the audio from Soundcloud.
6. Press Tone Selector button 16.
7. The Tone selector buttons will light up sequentially left to right a couple times. At this point data is loading. (To abort loading at any time, simply press the Tape Memory button again).
9. After Bank A and Tone Selector 1 both light up, loading is complete.
10. Don’t forget to turn the memory protect switch back on, if you wish to do so.

If lights quickly flash backwards (right to left), then JX3P was unable to read the data. Adjust device volume (make sure the volume is not muted, the sweet spot will usually be high or in the middle) and try again.

8bit 8kHz wave file. plug "audio out" from your computer into the korg poly 800 "tape in" using a standard audio cable. set up poly 800 to receive tape mode or whatever. play the audio file from the computer into the poly 800. if you get an error, try adjusting the volume. this will erase the entire patch memory and replace it with the factory patches. back up your sounds first, if you want to keep them. google this process or read the manual if you want better instructions on how to do this.
