MARC HOULE UNVEILS ‘RESTORED’ REMIX ALBUM 	

Marc Houle is set to release a full remix package from his debut LP, Restore, featuring remix contributions from an all-star line-up of techno luminaries including Danny Daze, Harvard Bass, Julian Jeweil, Joris Voorn, M.A.N.D.Y., Popof and Marc Houle himself.

Originally released on Richie Hawtin’s Minus label a decade ago, Restore stands alone as Houle’s very first long-player and helped to establish his penchant for the quirkier side of techno and his superlative production skills. Spread across 11 tracks it encapsulated the dark, minimal, groove-driven sound purveyed by Hawtin and the rest of the Minus crew, while retaining a strong sense of Houle’s unique character and identity. Now it’s the perfect time to breath new life into an album that has stood the test of time, still utterly infectious and absorbing – a collection of music that captures an era of stripped back, yet captivating sounds. 

10 years since its release, the album is getting the remix treatment and Marc has called in some of the very best in techno talent to give Restore a fresh makeover. The selection of artists who’ve contributed to the ‘Restored’ project includes heavyweights such as Joris Voorn, M.A.N.D.Y. and Popof together with additional reworks from stars of the new generation such as Danny Daze, Julian Jeweil and Harvard Bass, all giving his tracks a new lease of life. In addition, Houle himself has also stepped up to offer a new contemporary take on his own music, collaborating with vocalist Genevieve Marentette on ‘Demor’.

Dragon Dreaming 2025 catalysed within me a whole new level of stoke for this big beautiful crazy universe we live in.

Marking my 19th year of doofing and my 11th Dragon, this was easily the best programmed, tightest production and most high vibes gathering I've ever witnessed. To say this party absolutely fucks is an understatement.

Serendipity continues to be the theme of my recent weeks, with magic moments strewn throughout the entire weekend. Partying this hard has never felt so good!

Every. Single. Set and performance I witnessed this weekend (and I saw a LOT) kicked monumental amounts of sexy ass. I have so much Love for everyone in this community.

Thank you all for coming out on Sunday evening to groove on down to some of my current fav sensuous house music. It was an absolute honour to play between Da Heebie Jeebies and Lucidity, who both completely killed it.

Huge thank you again and always to Cam, Maxi and James for having me.

EARTH FREQUENCY 2025 LOVE CAMP SET

The first for me and the summation of years of learning and listening, a set of my own original tracks, played live at our Wonky Queenslander take over at Boombox in amongst many cherished friends at Earth Frequency 2025. 

Some are written just by me, some are with friends. It has been a joy to collaborate with my fellow Wonky Queenslanders, Chau and James Koebin; it was also also truly amazing to have the uber talented Hayato Simpson aka Staggersaur join for a live jam on a couple of tracks too.

Many of these are still works in production, but my first ever release, When I return to me will be coming out in the next couple of months. 

A little story for those still reading: The very first time I opened Ableton was when I had the idea for what was to be a track for a documentary I featured in about riding the pacific coast of the americas on push bike. That track was When I return to me,  the last track in this set, which I finished up a few months ago, making it a 9 year process. By comparison, The presence of you was written two weekend's before Earth Frequency. Even the yet to be named track by James and I finally came together on the Monday the week of EFF and we had our first rehearsal the morning of the show. I feel like I've finally arrived and can't wait to finish these and write some more.

A semi live set of all original tunes @ The Wonky QLDer, Earth Frequency Festival 25

A couple of Sundays ago we again had the absolute pleasure of playing the mighty Vertex stage at Earth Frequency’s 20th Anniversary Edition at Woodfordia.

Sandwiched between Sun Control Species and Antix on one side and D-Sens on the other, it was a quintessential Earth Frequency Sunday session and a fitting celebration of two decades of Queensland’s longest-standing and best-loved festival.

It was a particularly special moment for Jesse. Not only are they three of his biggest inspirations since the earliest days of his DJ career, but they were also the first artists signed to Open Records for his debut compilation Slow-Release way back in 2007. They basically defined the early sound of the label from the beginning, and to have the chance to play alongside them again, especially at such a special occasion, was truly an honour.

After days of sweltering heat and humidity, the skies finally opened late on Sunday afternoon. It started to shower during the last parts of Antix’s dark and stormy set, and by the time we took to the stage, the rain was really coming in as the storm hit. Instead of scaring everyone off, it was a huge moment of relief for everyone on the dancefloor and the energy was electric. At one point the crowd was absolutely having it and screaming so loud you could hear them over the booth monitors and headphones! We’ve both played a lot of sets individually and together, and we both struggle to think of one where the crowd was that amped. The memory will remain etched into our minds forever.

Then disaster struck. Midway through our sixth track, Weekend Heroes’ classic Fear Factor from Open Records’ Expansion Pack compilation (one of the tunes that gave the genre “bush techno” its name), we heard a huge crackle from the back of house and the sound system went down. The crowd stuck around initially (still screaming, no doubt!) but after about 15–20 minutes had dwindled to a few wet and loyal crew as the production crew scrambled to fix the issue. Eventually they managed to sort it and get the front of house working again, and we were able to continue our set (sans booth monitors), but we decided to cut the middle section to make sure the set times stayed on schedule for the rest of the evening. The crowd didn’t take long to return and we were particularly stoked we got to play a couple of Will’s amazing new tunes that he’d finished especially for the set at the end.

We’d like to say a huge thanks to everyone from the crowd for their amazing vibes during both the beginning of our set and when the sound returned, and to everyone who stuck by us through a wet and wild afternoon. We’d also like to say a huge thanks to the EFF production crew for their hard work in a tough situation, and of course to Paul Abad for giving us the honour of playing such an amazing time slot on the Vertex at EFF’s 20th Anniversary.

This weekend, we decided to rerecord our set as it would have been, as a thank you to everyone who gave us so much amazing feedback and kind words both on the day and since. In authentic doof fashion, the set was recorded live in one take on a pair of ageing CDJ-900s with a broken cue button on the left unit. Luckily we had Will’s schmick new Limited Edition Xone-92, so at least the recording was crisp! Apart from a bit of volume normalisation, we did very little post-production, so it’s about as real and raw as if we were playing it live on the Vertex. We hope you enjoy it, and thanks again to everyone for their amazing support.
