UK Garage Appreciation

Dear listener 🖤🤍🖤⁠
I was invited to play "Tauron Nowa Muzyka" festival in Poland this year and when I saw the lineup, I was intrigued at how varied and eclectic it was.⁠
As my slot at the club Stage was the closing set on Sunday morning, I had the idea to summarize the festival in my set.  So on the train to Katowice I started digging into all the artists whom I didn't already know and put a set together that consists only of music from artists who performed at this year’s edition of the festival. 
It was a bit of work and a challenge given the limited amount of time I had to prepare, but it was quite a lot of fun and I want to share it with you!

Komfortrauschen is a live band from Berlin that creates the powerful sound of a techno DJ set in their very own analog fashion with traditional instruments, filtered through an impressive array of pedals and effects. Imagine a punk band trapped inside a drum computer; the Prodigy being a Berghain resident, Richie Hawtin meets Rammstein. The pure ecstasy and machine accuracy of techno enriched with the fresh energy and playfulness of a live band. Since the band was formed in 2014, Komfortrauschen has played regularly in famous German clubs like Sisyphos, Kantine am Berghain, and Kater Blau, as well as all over Europe and beyond. 

Now, they are making their debut on Entourage Concept with their "96er Tool" EP, which is a 3-tracker combining their signature sound with the characteristics of the classic dub Entourage sound. As if this would not be enough, the label heads Antic Soul contributed a peak-time remix re-interpretation of the track KPS. Make sure to check out ECO017!

Live Techno Act KOMFORTRAUSCHEN Shares ​Expander​ EP

Live techno act ​KOMFORTRAUSCHEN have announced the release of their new EP ​Expander ​which will be released on 16th of October 2020 (on @springstoff). ​The band is well known on the Berlin circuit and have played the iconic ​Kantine am Berghain​, opened for ​MEUTE ​on their European Tour, as well as a slew of performances at festivals across Europe and the US such as the legendary ​Seebühne Closing at the Fusion Festival 2019​, ​MS Dockville​, ​Reeperbahn Festival​, ​Eurosonic Noorderslag and ​SXSW​. The single was mastered by ​Lad Agabekov of ​Caduceus Studios (whose previous associations include the likes of ​Octave One, Kollektiv Turmstrasse and Oliver Deutschmann​) and mixed by ​Kassian Troyer ​(who has worked with ​Pan American, Fennesz​ and ​Jan Jelinek​). Their previous single ​‘Mechatronik’ ​received support from the likes of​ ​EARMILK​ and​ Electronic Groove​.

The men behind the mania are ​Tim Sarhan (drums)​, Laurenz Karsten ​(guitar) and ​Phillip Oertel (bass) - three precision-obsessed control freaks who have honed their craft of playing live techno on instruments with German perfection. All three have spent the better part of ten years as professional musicians, skillfully converting their mechanical energy into unrestrained, hedonistic techno.

KOMFORTRAUSCHEN draw influence from a wide sonic palette - from ​Modeselektor ​and Robert Hood, to Trentemøller and Richie Hawtin​. They create the powerful sound of a DJ set in their own analogue fashion using traditional instruments filtered through an impressive array of pedals and effects, the end result comparable to acts such as ​Surgeon,​ ​Tale of Us ​and​ Agents of Time.

The live techno act returned with a vengeance with their latest single, ​‘Nemo’.​ ​KOMFORTRAUSCHEN measure their soundscapes with precision, ensuring each note that reaches the listener’s ears is carefully thought out and placed. The impenitent trio allow the sound to create a driving energy in the room, perfect for any hedonistic environment. The band create analogue techno music with traditional instruments, filtered through an impressive array of pedals and effects and resulting in an unparalleled sound that leaves the listener breathless.

Growing up in the Jungle, respecting and coexisting with 
„Naturaleza“ (Danis) was all I knew. Human and nature as one. As I got older and moved to the city  „Police“ (Alex Kent & Alex Lotus) toughed me otherwise. Suddenly we were pointing fingers at people,  separating us, destroying nature, exploding Mother Earth and all its living beings. Why is there so much hate and can't there be an “Elixir” (Rafael Cerato) that makes us all reflect ourselves and see all the injustices made by men. And live in peace again. It's all around us as ghosted machines. Can't there be a “Dream Machine” (Nina Kraviz) that helps us rebuild all our destructions without harming flora and fauna. I often dream of “Walking with Elephants” (Ten walls) them telling me about all the wisdom they have experienced in this planet. About motherhood. About Love. You could make a whole  “Serenade” (Tom Demac) about all their stories. They also told me about the “Father of Birds” (Benno Blume, Hoppenrider) Salim Ali, whose deep love for birds made him a great scientist. He said his love was not sentimental but rather pragmatic. And once again I find myself on a carousel of thoughts, what is love if it is not sentimental ?  I hear some sirens reaping me out of my wonderings they are “Coming to you” (Andy Bros) are those police (Alex Kent & Alex lotus) sirens or “Crying Sirens” (Daniel Jäger, Pauli Pocket). Looking out to the ocean searching for some signs my eyes start to wonder as they become witnesses of an “Eclipse” (Davi) reflection on the waters surface. What did “Just” (Bicep) happened? I can’t  figure out how we got here. Living on decay. Are we all Bad by nature ? Or does society rip us apart? And I know it’s not only “Me so bad” (Lexer ) that wants a change. “The one” ( Lane 8 feat Patrick Baker) who wants to fight against injustice in this world. But our love is violent.  ‚And as much as I'd like to Believe there's a truth About our illusion, well I've come to conclude There's just nothing beyond it The mind can perceive Except for the pictures in  “The space in between” (Jan Blomqvist)’.
