Co-founder of Norway’s future-facing Ute crew, Ekkel (Teo Bachs) has a front-row seat in the cockpit on their psychedelic flavoured quest. From their woodland beginnings they’ve staked a claim to freedom through music and community, and expanded to include brick and mortar club nights and a self-titled label for the release of their magnetic and mysterious techno sounds. Forest-bath electronics that take stock of Scandinavia’s ambient tradition and cross-pollinate it with a measure of acid, trance and midnight sun. Teo’s own steadily rising number of productions (side project H25 included) has fleshed out Ute’s vision with a personal twist, and there’s another three scheduled for the fall. The past few years too have seen him hard at work exploring the possibilities of sound in a lonely cabin as part of Solar Alliance, collaborating with S.O.N.S on Korean label Junction Forest and producing many more unreleased tracks, some of which you’ll hear here first for a very special number. It’s a wormhole trip that marches headlong from the shadows, shimmering and physical beats that heave and swell, tribal breaks that flit from track to track and build a cathartic mood that harks back to Ute’s woodland roots. Next up in the Bassiani series comes British talent Andy Luff. With London’s growing commercialisation and NIMBY-style aversion to creative pursuits, it’s a mark of great mettle to have carved out a flourishing space on its turf, but Andy and his crew has exactly succeeded in doing this. Their bootleg and off-the-cuff raves began as a guestlist only set up, bringing together friends and their friends for events where the DJs and quality soundsystems took centre stage. And it all seems to have struck the right chord: growing slowly but steadily, with Andy now living in Amsterdam, he has taken picnics signature sound to the Dutch capital where the events are flourishing, now in its second decade and with a long-standing collaboration with London superclub Fabric and Amsterdams uniquely intimate Bret, their format is something much needed in keeping the European hotspots raving into the coming years. Picnic is still much focused on throwing some of the best parties in town, and now putting out records under their homonymous label. The imprint and Andy’s benchmark, an ice-cool mix of progressive house, electro and trance, perky beats with a confident bent, unpretentious sounds for a fun night’s dancing. Sometimes it’s really that simple. On the 7th of March, Andy brought a taste of his sound to Tbilisi with a banger set at Horoom and this one’s a live recording from the night. Andy fuses retro synthwork and wobbly percussions to fun effect. Misty-eyed melodies and infectious bass lines from this eclectic supplier of good times out are ever present in this recording. A scintillating first appearance and hopefully the first of many.

Swiss DJ/Producer Audrey Danza debuts for the Bassiani Podcast series with an hour and a half of her own music, composed mostly of her unreleased tracks as well as a few exciting collaborations. From tripped-out techno, to house and trance bent rhythms, this mix shows that Audrey’s course has been nothing short of impressive, from Geneva and now Berlin. Since her intro to the local scene back in 2019, she’s racked up a residency at multidisciplinary event space Motel Campo, played clubs from Panorama Bar to Circoloco to Robert Johnson and Fabric, and, as a means of rereleasing lost 80-90s records at first (and now her own productions as well), kicked off her label Proxima in 2020. She’s also been active in the world of Berlin nightlife, where she relocated since 2022, with frequent collabs with the Sound Metaphors family, from party series to collaborations around her label. On top of a busy schedule and a growing pile of remixes and from the ground up productions, Audrey stays the course. Her sound is a fusion of industrial beats and percussions, acid, 90s synths house, self-aware and constantly cross-referencing to sculpt a fleshed out world of sound that’s psychedelic and deeply immersive. Bassiani Podcast 268 is a signature mix of warped transmissions and assembly line beats, a gradual burn and sharp ascent to peak-time techno compiled by a leading light of the Swiss electronic music scene. D.Dan is a Berlin-based DJ and producer from Seattle. Steely granite techno slabs, twisted serpentine grooves, playful hooks, and cutting breakbeats. Creating the soundtrack to your mutant machine-funk techno getaway. 
D.Dan originally cut his teeth in grungy basement parties, warehouse raves, and forest renegades in the Pacific Northwest hideout of Seattle, Washington. His DJ sets and productions are steeped in a sense of insurgent rawness, physicality and adventurousness, deeply informed by the DIY perspectives and attitudes of his upbringing. As an avid vinyl collector, he fuses the old-school with the modern, often layered across three decks with a deft hand making for a full body-music experience. D.Dan's productions on Arsenik Records and his breakhrough “Covert Operation EP” on the Lobster Theremin imprint has not only gained the recognition of DJs and deep diggers, but also of dancers and party people alike.
