On the 01st August 2014, the unstoppable Hedonism Music return with their latest offering – ‘Someday’ from Stu Patrics, his debut for the label. 

Complete with a killer remix package that includes Manchester underground hero MIGUEL CAMPBELL from cult label Hot Creations, as well as man of the moment TEENAGE MUTANTS, whose new single ‘The Path’ is currently casuing a storm on Suara Records. He also had great releases on the two hottest Berlin imprints Stil Vor Talent and OFF Recordings.

Over the last few years, Stu Patrics has developed and maintained an impressive following with increasing loyalty, thanks mainly to his series of acclaimed releases and remixes with labels like Moodmusic, Save Room Recordings and Pooledmusic. His DJ residencies have built him a huge live following and his tracks are now regularly picked up and supported by some of the world’s biggest DJs. They’ve also started popping up on diverse mix albums including the world famous Global Underground label.

It’s not only world-class labels that have spotted Stu’s talent, but renowned DJs and producers too. He’s been remixed by some of the finest, including Ian Pooley, Till von Sein and Kruse & Nuernberg who’ve all produced their own versions of Stu’s work.

Stu Patrics - Someday (Original Mix)

In anticipation of the impending July 7 release of Soul Sister, ILLUMNTR and Lowtemp offer you "Dark Days."  Inspired by the eponymous film from director Marc Singer (http://bit.ly/1qCarJp), the track introduces itself as something distinctly Earthly, beginning as an homage to classic soul and the classic angst of being "down and out in New York City."

Its destination, however, depends entirely on the listener.  Just as Singer's film so powerfully illustrates, human beings don't always react the same way when faced with hopelessness.  Some look up to the heavens; others clamber down into the tranquility of the abyss.

And so it goes with Dark Days: by the time you hear the gasped breath that marks its final measure, you'll realize either that you've rocketed up into the faintly-illuminated reaches of outer space, or that you've descended down into "inner space," into the vast, crumbling network of deserted subway lines that lie like ancient ruins beneath New York.

But are these two destinations really so different?  Or does the difference lie only in the traveler?  After all, whether from the glimmer of distant stars or from the flickering glow of a trash-kindled campfire in an abandoned MTA tunnel somewhere deep below New York City, it would seem that nowhere in the universe is truly lightless.

Maverick Soul Ft Yezah - Hold On (MECHANIZM Remix)


As far as album openers go, OBNOXIOUSLY SEXUAL checks all the right boxes, introducing the listener to the sound pallet and motives of MEXICO (KOMPAKT 301 CD 116), the new full- length offering from iconic Icelanders GUSGUS. But this cut also stands on its own as a deliberately catchy anthem, a perfect playground for a select gang of remixers including PATRICE BÄUMEL, J.PHLIP and GLUTEUS MAXIMUS.

Amsterdam floor champion and Trouw regular PATRICE BÄUMEL kicks off the proceedings with a floating techno rendition of OBNOXIOUSLY SEXUAL, embedding the vocals in breezy pads and throbbing sequencing. This proves to be a perfect primer for the proud stepper that is J.PHLIP's remix - both sensual and bold, her approach ingeniously fuses the cheerful bounciness of her native San Francisco's house template with the elegiac elation from GUSGUS. As with the CROSSFADE REMIXE (KOMPAKT DIGITAL 40), closing remix duties fall to the band's very own President Bongo who wraps up the package under his GLUTEUS MAXIMUS guise, sticking surprisingly close to the original, but enhancing the strings and brass parts in the most impressive manner. Bull's eye!

Admittedly, being able to embrace someone back into your life, when they seem to have never left might be a little strange - but that’s exactly how it feels with Âme, one of clubland’s mainstays, consisting of Kristian Beyer and Frank Wiedemann. Case in point: they’re certainly not getting tired of gracing stages big and small with their DJ sets and live performances around the globe, yet “Asa“ actually presents their first original material since three years. Particular track sees the duo on top of their game, as it offers another example of peak time dance floor that is still so much more than just the sum of its components. “Asa“ is big, joyful, euphoric, and sonically adventurous. It relies on repetition, but no single part is allowed to stagnate before everything finally culminates in a symphony of daring synths, driving beats and dueling melodies. It’s a spectacle that might or might not be the musical notification of something way bigger heading our way.
