It’s been a few years since Captain Mustache took a ride with Kompakt – 2021, to be exact, when he released the “Everything” single, and subsequently made an appearance on that year’s entry in the Total series. But this visionary French producer has been busy, indeed fiercely productive, ever since, appearing on Helena Hauff’s Return To Disorder and John Digweed’s Bedrock, collaborating with Dave Clarke, Popof, The Advent, Paris The Black Fu, Keith Tucker from AUX88... and two beautifully eloquent albums, Tourbillon Nocturne and Indigo Memories. But with The Super Album, Captain Mustache returns to Kompakt with his most sublime collection yet.

On The Super Album, the Captain soundtracks an imagined “whole day for party people.” He welcomes friends old and new on board: opening with the poetic club banger of “About Love”, with guest appearance from Speakwave (aka dynArec), The Super Album shifts gears into the lush, sunny “Shifting Basslines”, where Captain Mustache’s pulsing electro-disco is the perfect fit for a third collaboration with electroclash pioneers Chicks on Speed.

After the deep techno pulsations of “Laser Me” and the glitzy pop shine of “Gimme Ya Mustache”, more guests arrive: Arnaud Rebotini of Black Strobe on the slinky “I Love Watching U”, and then a spoken cameo from the truly legendary French disco diva Amanda Lear on “Mustache Of The Universe”, a glitzy glitterball of a song that’s shrouded in ghostly synths.

@vinnyvillbass will release his sublime new album ‘Windows’ this September, with the eight tracks released as a series of singles in the preceding weeks.

Vinny Villbass hails from Oslo and is a sonic guru and master musician with decades of experience in the house scene. He's a vinyl junkie, guitar, and synth player who, next to solo work on his own label Badabing Diskos, has released on Eskimo, Beatservice and Trunkfunk, in addition to curating Pantha Du Prince's 'The Bell Laboratory' project. He is one of the most pivotal figures in his native scene of Oslo, having previously lived - and made his mark - in Berlin and New York.

Vinny doesn't rely on sequencers, so every bit of this new album is played by hand on synths, guitars, drum pads, samplers or percussion. In this case, we see a playful mix of different genres under the broad house umbrella, making this a record for dancing and driving, deep thinking and dreaming. He says of its title, "Windows give us glimpses of future possibilities, framed by memory and imagination. Through the perpetual windows of technology we also see the parallel world of digital content. My music represents the views from my own windows. What do you see through yours?."

'Ski Station' opens up with jangling guitar riffs and pumping nu-disco beats full of life and charm before tender chord work enriches the airwaves. 'Frau Hoffmanns Zimmer' is an increasingly unhinged cosmic trip with pulsing synths and full-blooded house drums, a foundation for squelchy lines, swirling pads and bristling live percussion. 'Lerwick Open' is another fulsome arrangement that brims with vitality as Vinny plays everything from the serene chords to the Balearic guitar riffs and techno-disco drums.

'Go To Stay' ft. Khan is an eight-minute dub, house and disco fusion with retro-future synth motifs shining bright next to vocal dubs and smeared pads that extend to the heavens. There is real funk in the house bones of 'Greenpoint', which dances about effortlessly as an ecosphere of synths and melodies light up the airwaves. 'Orient Espresso' features Vinny's brother Anders on flute and is a warm and inviting world of dynamic synth work, clever effects and dance floor fun. 'Taksi Helsinki' is an introverted trip to the stars on shimmering melodies, and 'Saraholmen' ends on a heavenly note with well-treated vocals panning about the mix and bringing celestial vibes to another irresistible Vinny rhythm.

This exceptional album will be followed by an instrumental live show that reanimates the entire record in full this Autumn, while badabing is also to host a mini festival in Lisbon in September. ‘Windows’, meanwhile, is the latest essential chapter in Vinny's captivating house story.

‘Windows’ arrives in full on September 29th, with singles arriving weekly from the 25th of August to the 15th of September.

Yeah, we are definitely having a week of collaborations in our premiere section: This one is for the lovers of emotive and heartwarming Synthwave cuts out there. Coming soon on the beautiful Astrolead Recordings, master Ilya Santana (SXDNS072), the label boss himself, joined forces once again with Spanish vocalist Sandry Sanz to deliver another mesmerising episode of their fruitful partnership. Tagging along this time, Argentinian musician, singer, and guitarist Tony David with his characteristic crying and melodic riffs.

Having a busy 2023 so far, Ilya has been devoting his most recent endeavours almost exclusively to his very own platform, breaking the string with only a few appearances on other vital imprints such as Spa In Disco, Boite Music, and Rare Wiri. For his “return” on Astrolead, he gathered not only a skilled duo of collaborators but also a label favourite for the remix duty: Seville-based producer Jason Core.

“Shattered Memories” is an extremely well-constructed retro-infused anthem with stunning synth leads and a dynamic bassline that paired perfectly with Sandry’s impressive vocals and Tony’s far-out guitar intervention.

Roam Recordings boss Jason Peters returns with a new psychedelic acid house meets indie dance single entitled Strange to Be Alive. Dark and trippy synth work underpins Jason's heavily washed vocals in this latest offering. Reaching out to Mexico where the label has strong ties and affection, the release gains remix support from Roam alumni Cabizbajo and Moisees. Cabizbajo is up first and delivers a masterfully dark, heavy, and head nodding dub version. Up next is Duro boss Moisees with a driving rendition that spins the original themes into new and exciting rhythmic dimensions. Rounding out the EP is JP's More Acid Dub that strips out the vocal of the original and replaces it with, as the name suggests, more acid!

From Barcelona, Fernanda Arrau is back, presenting her latest EP 'Sexy Dance.' The talented Chilean DJ and producer made her debut on the label with "Calypso" in 'Muy Divas Vol 1', and now she immerses us in a world of shimmering sounds and hypnotic rhythms. The EP, consisting of three cuts—two of them original versions and a masterful edit by Bawrut.

The EP kicks off with "Sexy Dance," a track that's fresh, fun, and simultaneously seductive. With a playful bassline, echoing vocals, an enjoyable cowbell, and a solid drumbeat, this 6-and-a-half-minute song leads listeners into a state of hypnotic dancing.

Captain Mustache is a French music producer and DJ from Paris.

Since 2020, he made releases on some of the greatest labels of the scene: Kompakt, Mobilee, Exploited, Permanent Vacation, Helena Hauff's Return To Disorder, and an album on John Digweed's Bedrock Records, with a constant support from the best DJ's in the world.

As a true electronic music lover, he worked with some electro idols (Dave Clarke, Arnaud Rebotini, Chicks on Speed, The Advent, Keith Tucker from AUX88...) to bring an extra vocal dimension to his music.

In 2023 came the consecration with a full album called "The Super Album" on legendary label KOMPAKT Records, with the priviliege to join the short list of artists having signed a LP on this label, such as Kolsch, Gui Boratto, Agents Of Time or WhoMadeWho.
