Javier Ferreira and Persona RS, the electrifying duo, returns to Duro Label with ‘Shifting Sands’ EP. The sonic masters duo are ready to dazzle once again with their creativity on this work. Following their astounding appearance on the ‘Muy Duro Vol X’ compilation, these skillful producers come together once more on a sonic journey that blends the intricate nuances of trance and techno, creating a unique musical experience.

The record kicks off with a hypnotic awakening through the original version of "Shifting Sands". This track is a whirlwind of energy, a fusion of acidic elements and dreamlike atmospheres. The journey delves into a new dimension with Elfenberg's remix. The virtuoso Swedish producer transforms "Shifting Sands," bringing his distinctive approach to the mix. With its broken drum rhythms, resonating basslines, and acidic melodies, Elfenberg weaves a hypnotic sonic tapestry. The addition of ethereal vocals and celestial pianos creates an astonishing sound palette.

The journey culminates epically with the striking "Trompe." This track is an adventure in itself, with synthesizers weaving hypnotic patterns as rhythms and vocals gradually fade away.

Javier Ferreira and Persona RS's "Shifting Sands" EP will be available on all major streaming platforms starting from September 22, 2023.

A long-time resident at Barcelona’s legendary Razzmatazz and label head of Factor City for two decades, Undo is a Spanish mainstay with countless releases that have garnered support from the likes of Andrew Weatherall, Roman Flugel and Erol Alkan. He teams up with fellow Spaniard and synth-pop wizard Casiowaves to return for their second collaborative release on Melodize after last year's 'Predict The Future' EP.

The straight-forward 'Casiobass' kicks off with fizzing synth lines, chugging dark disco drums, a fat bass and circling pads. 'Overcruiser' is a pumping, Italo-influenced cut with retro-future chords and a clean, cosmic feel, while 'Something Blue' layers up the crispy analogue drums with sonar pulses, deadpan cold wave vocals and majestic leads that bring color and vibrancy.

Drummer-turned electronic producer and live act Nhar, who boasts an impressive discography spanning two decades, makes his debut on the label with a remix of 'Waves to Come' that brings a widescreen serenity and calm to the original through pensive chord work and starry keys twinkling in the distance. The original then closes out with Balearic guitar licks, punchy drums, and rich bass for a fusion of retro sounds with futuristic sentiment. From the driving Casiobass to the Balearic, serene 'Waves to Come,' Undo & Casiowaves have served up offerings for all hours with the versatile 'Casiobass' EP.

It’s been a few years since Captain Mustache took a ride with Kompakt – 2021, to be exact, when he released the “Everything” single, and subsequently made an appearance on that year’s entry in the Total series. But this visionary French producer has been busy, indeed fiercely productive, ever since, appearing on Helena Hauff’s Return To Disorder and John Digweed’s Bedrock, collaborating with Dave Clarke, Popof, The Advent, Paris The Black Fu, Keith Tucker from AUX88... and two beautifully eloquent albums, Tourbillon Nocturne and Indigo Memories. But with The Super Album, Captain Mustache returns to Kompakt with his most sublime collection yet.

On The Super Album, the Captain soundtracks an imagined “whole day for party people.” He welcomes friends old and new on board: opening with the poetic club banger of “About Love”, with guest appearance from Speakwave (aka dynArec), The Super Album shifts gears into the lush, sunny “Shifting Basslines”, where Captain Mustache’s pulsing electro-disco is the perfect fit for a third collaboration with electroclash pioneers Chicks on Speed.

After the deep techno pulsations of “Laser Me” and the glitzy pop shine of “Gimme Ya Mustache”, more guests arrive: Arnaud Rebotini of Black Strobe on the slinky “I Love Watching U”, and then a spoken cameo from the truly legendary French disco diva Amanda Lear on “Mustache Of The Universe”, a glitzy glitterball of a song that’s shrouded in ghostly synths.

Step into the vibrant world of Technicism and Chinosynth - two talented producers hailing from the sun-soaked streets of Culiacán, Sinaloa, México - as they debut on Roam Recordings with their Discodelia EP. Both originals pulsate analog synth work over hard-hitting drums channeling the essence of the discotheque.

The EP is backed by remixes from Peter Invasion & Gregor Habicht, Fausto, and Ali X. Peter Invasion & Gregor Habicht are up first and take on the title track with a hypnotic, and industrial-tinged journey through the soundscapes of the original. Ali X is up next and gives Cimbalaria a bold and demented twist, perfect for when you need to take it there. Fausto offers a stripped-down version of Cimbalaria that sucks you in further to the psychedelic feel of the EP.

They are both attached to a retro sound, and it shows : the generous groove and Moroder-esque bass on ‘Burnout 2’ will get you hooked in no time, while ‘Sequentiel’ offers a pretty mean and old-school rave energy. Two super solid tracks by one super solid duo !

Twenty Year Weekend (Two Decades of Darkroom Dubs) is the twenty-anniversary label compilation compiled and curated by Glasgow's Silicone Soul. Rather than take the retrospective route, they mark twenty years since they launched one of the UK's most revered underground house music labels with a new collection of music from a fresh global roll call who like it deep, dark and a little twisted.

Also marking a quarter century since Craig Morrison and Graeme Reedie released their first Silicone Soul 12-inch on Slam's esteemed Soma imprint, the compilation gets underway with the duo's own Fahrenheit 625 featuring Bitch Traxx originator Franklin Fuentes on a scene-setting killer groove declaring presciently, "I’ll take you there."
Thirteen further early-hours throbbers ignite with Italian future disco duo Phunkadelica unleashing malevolent chugger Phunkarama lashed with robotic vocals, metallic swells and early 90s bleeps and hoover tones. 

Mexican DJ/ producer Theus Mago, co-founder of the Duro label in 2015 with Moisees, then uncannily plugs into the metaphysical Darkroom Dubs current with Intensify, garnishing its groin- thwacking turbo groove with cascading melodic synth interplay.

Lucky Luciano uncorks another top-notch percussive workout from Glaswegian Darkroom Dubs favourite Am$trad Billionaire, its dense, percussive groove mosaic slashed with ghostly sample shards. Hot on its heels are Berlin-based, Greek-German tour-de-force Brax Moody and Vamparela – aka Local Suicide - who duet with Wiener Planquadrat for some sexy rogue electro on Flashdance, splattered with lacerating Moroder-esque sequencer savagery.

Next is the Factory City head-honcho Undo, fresh from his recent sublime house missiles on Darkroom Dubs, like Acid Summer and Aliens Go Home, who unleashes his ominous bass-driven acid monster, Vencejos. Before Nayan Soukie - aka Amount - rides the shimmering skyline surfer Figure Skating, packing the Darkroom Dubs trademark subterranean bass to the hilt. 

Then, the mysterious Subcisco conjures the ultimate funk party behemoth with Boiling Point evoking blaxploitation soundtracks in its aquatic stew of mangled strings and brass spectres hot-wired by contagious elastic bass.
 
Parisian DJ/ producer Id!r, whose Darkroom Dubs missives include 2016's bass bin shredding Two Days In Hell, pulls off a typically dark, simmering groove beast on Haowie, topped with a gargling robo-vocal hook. 

Madrid-based Rotten City Records owner Alvaro Cabana then detonates 90s-style peak mayhem with Arde, casting its wailing power rhythm with crashing snare action. “Born in the 80s, raised by the 90s, lost in the 00s”, exclaims maverick techno-punk Pvlomo, immediately standing out with the sci-fi robot-gargling and Godzilla-like bass on My Little Vampire, his strength lying in lethally audacious twists and turns executed as the track powers mercilessly on into the darkness.

Oslo-based duo Of Norway are the only act to feature on both anniversary compilations (bridged by 2015’s towering Black Desert Disco Cult 12-inch). Mixing glacial electro with spaced-out strings and eastern-tinged melodies, Always Almost is suitably auspicious. Istanbul’s Günce Aci follows with Fallen Leaves, built on a juddering mutant electro lurch lathered with devilish voices, climaxing in the snarling acid disco thunder of Lead Boys, cultivated in Bogota’s Kaputt Club by enigmatic duo Nuclear Digital Transistor. Dense and pulsing with disembodied goth-like vocals, the track makes a suitably idiosyncratic finale for a compilation tangibly driven to breathe new life into Silicone Soul's manifesto to celebrate, nurture and push the music they love to play, make and support.

Proper underground house music has always been about fearless electronic innovation with a human soul. An ethos crystallised in this spellbinding collection.

Brussels-based up-and-coming talent Ikaro Grati marks his Feines Tier debut with the four track SEARCH LANGUAGE EP. As Ikaro himself puts it, it’s „an euphonious exploration of the new generation, weaving together their hopes, dreams, challenges, and contradictions into a sonic tapestry“. And indeed, if this sound represents the new generation, then we’re in good hands! It’s diverse and sprawling, yet laser-focused in its production. Take the title track with its clear-cutting drum patterns, warm basslines and super-sharp lead sounds, the picture is clear, no smudge on the lense to distort our view. Or „Run Like A Child“ with its bouncing vocal samples and synth arpeggios creating a playful and whimsical vibe, „reflecting the vibe of hope and renewal“ as Ikaro himself puts it. „Social Syndrome“ gets more serious with pulsing 303s and dramatic string pads. Ikaro says „the track is about the pressure of the younger generation to be constantly connected and the social anxiety that can result“, for example by social media tending to create unrealistic expectations and feelings of inadequacy. The EP closes with the bangin’ „New Leaf Generation“, which alternates urging vocal loops with intense synth explorations. The tune culminates in a break introducing beautiful poly-synth chord progressions before throwing us back into the relentless groove of before. „This track evokes a sense of hope and optimism, as it describes a generation that is standing up for what they believe“ says Ikaro. Let’s celebrate them for that!
