Kyu Sakamoto (坂本 九 Sakamoto Kyū?, born Hisashi Oshima (大島 九 Ōshima Hisashi?), 10 December 1941 – 12 August 1985) was a Japanese singer and actor, best known outside of Japan for his international hit song "Sukiyaki", which was sung in Japanese and sold over 13 million copies.

From the vibrant shores of Portugal to the pulsating heart of Berlin, Jepe has carved out a unique and captivating presence in the global electronic music scene.

Jepe's musical journey began in Aveiro, a coastal town near Porto, where he was drawn to the rhythmic energy of the ocean. At just 16 he had his own radio show, and by 19 he was already commanding the decks at one of the biggest clubs in his hometown. 

As one half of duo Johnwaynes, he made waves with releases on   Mulemusiq, Compost Records, Get Physical, and Cecille. And in 2013, Jepe embarked on a solo path, spanning top labels such as Diynamic, Moodmusic ++. 

As founder of rising label Eastern Standard, Jepe is also a visionary curator. And as a skilled mix engineer at Berlin’s renowned Blackhead Studios, he cultivates his perfectionism in both analog and digital rhythmical landscapes.

When the demo of ‘Scorpio Rising’ landed in our office, we knew immediately: this has to be released in the summer! A hook is a hook is a hook. And what Lannakise sang into the mic for LOPEZHOUSE is definitely a big hook with barbs that sticks in your head. A pristine pop house masterpiece from the La Mancha native.
